In anticipation of Abeille Royale Double R Renew &amp; Repair Advanced Serum&rsquo;s arrival in Malaysia, we caught up with Fr&eacute;d&eacute;ric BONT&Eacute;, Guerlain&rsquo;s Director of Scientific Communication as he shares everything about the revolutionary new formula.&nbsp;

Tell us more about our skin's repair ability.
We all have examples around us that show that, after an injury, older skin heals more slowly and less effectively than the young one. This is also true for normal skin repair, which is disrupted and slowed down when the skin begins to accumulate stress,. The skin appears tired, the first signs of aging become visible, the complexion is duller, and the skin loses its firmness and elasticity.&nbsp;
There are parallel mechanisms between the healing of wounds and the normal tissue repair of a skin that has been damaged by UX exposure, pollution, stress and ageing, These damages result in micro-tears in support fibres or micro-lesions in DNA, proteins or other cellular targets. In healing, as in repair, there are three phases that must balance each other in time and space: a warming phase, a phase of cell migration to the damaged area to repair it, and then a phase of repair material synthesis, a tissues rearrangement with their return to normal tension. Our research in neuroscience has also highlighted the importance of nerve cell and skin cells connections in the wound healing and repair process. What are the respective roles of natural ingredients and synthetic ingredients in skincare?
Our formulas have more and more ingredients of natural origin, which means more respectful of their origin and preparation processes, extraction&hellip; Our major active ingredients are of natural origins (honeys, royal jelly in Abeille Royale, orchids in Orchid&eacute;e Imp&eacute;riale) as well as the vast majority of texture ingredients. Nevertheless, there are still a few synthetic ingredients used that are still essential for the sensorial properties or the preservation of the formula. When they create a formula, our formulators and research teams make a severe analysis in the choice of the necessary raw materials to meet the product needs. Our research has been working on this subject for several years, and Guerlain commitment has been recognised as pioneer for many years.

What ingredients should we be looking for when it comes to addressing skin damage?
There are many kinds of skin damages that involve many different metabolic pathways depending of the stress nature (UV, pollution, mechanical&hellip;). To properly repair damages, we need to combine ingredients that have complementary functions and work together to correct the signs of aging. It is wise to combine active ingredients that facilitate regeneration processes, fight against pigmentary disorders, combat oxidative processes, promote repair and balanced remodelling of skin tissues. The aim is to help the skin to have a luminous complexion, less wrinkles, to be firmer, in fact look younger from inside.

What makes the new Double R Renew &amp; Repair Advanced Serum so revolutionary?
The new Double R Renew &amp; Repair Advanced Serum is based on a new&nbsp;technology.&nbsp;
The new phase Renew combines in a gel AHA+PHA associated with a&nbsp; unique white honey to improve skin regeneration. The Repair phase combines exceptional honeys with an exclusive royal jelly (the Dynamic Black Bee Repair technology) which act on the nerves and skin cells connections to optimize the&nbsp; natural skin repair processes.&nbsp;
Today, as innovation, the repair phase is enriched with two new exclusive&nbsp; active ingredients derived from the poly-fermentation of Ouessant and Ikaria&nbsp;honeys. On human skin cells culture, the two poly-fermented honeys have demonstrated their unique property of promoting balanced tissue remodelling and &ldquo;lifting" effect, designed under the scientific term of &ldquo;biotensegrity".&nbsp;

How does peeling and lifting work in synergy to improve skin renewal?
The soft peeling technology, composed of vectorised AHA and PHA, by&nbsp;stimulating the elimination of dead cells sends messages to the epidermis to&nbsp;promote its renewal.
