Hosted in the pulsating heart of Manchester's Thomas Street, a gritty tribute to the rebellious rhythms of post-punk and Brit pop, <a href="https://www.lofficielmalaysia.com/issues/cover-girl-janice-low-aria-ma-shines-in-chanel-for-dec-jan-2024-issue">Chanel</a> unfurls its 2023/24 M&eacute;tiers d'Art collection, a sartorial saga meticulously orchestrated by the ingenious <a href="https://www.lofficielmalaysia.com/fashion-week/go-everywhere-with-the-chanel-spring-summer-2024-collection">Virginie Viard</a>.
 This venerable setting, resonating with the ghosts of musical giants like the Sex Pistols, the Smiths, Morrisey, the Chemical Brothers, Oasis, and New Order, becomes the canvas for Viard's innovative homage to creativity.
Against a constellation of A-list attendees&mdash;Tilda Swinton, Charlotte Casiraghi, Kirsten McMenany, Kirsten Stewart, Sofia Coppola, Hugh Grant, Rebecca Murder, Lucy Boyton, and Laura Bailey&mdash;Viard unveils a collection where the timeless allure of Chanel intersects with the gritty spirit of Manchester.

Tweed, a Chanel staple, takes the limelight, transformed by Viard's vision into a vivacious pop symphony. "I thought a lot about Gabrielle Chanel but I didn&rsquo;t want to recreate Coco&rsquo;s look when she was wearing the Duke of Westminster&rsquo;s jackets. I took my cue from the Coco who brought colour to her tweeds. I added a vibrant, pop spirit to them," Viard asserts, drawing inspiration from the city's anarchic artistic legacy.
The M&eacute;tiers d'Art collection pays homage to Gabrielle Chanel while channelling the rebellious and bold energy of the underground scene. Viard seamlessly weaves nods to football culture and pastoral elements from the British moors into the fabric of the collection. Two artistic endeavours&mdash;a Sofia Coppola-directed video collage and a bespoke Manchester-centric logo seal by artist Peter Saville&mdash;underscore the symbiosis between the Maison and England.

This collection unfurls a chromatic spectrum from salmon pink to lemon green, apple to mustard yellow, sky blue to intense red. This kaleidoscope, coupled with a rock-infused underground attitude and a whisper of '60s retro, encapsulates a rebellious yet refined spirit. 
Supermodels Karen Elson and Edie Campbell, the embodiments of this collection's essence, take center stage&mdash;an ode to the perennial fusion of Chanel's iconic double C and the insurgent soul of Manchester.
