Coach brings more fun and excitement to Fall 2024 with New York icons
It’s a neverending celebration of New York City and this season, Coach introduces to the collection with some of the city’s most iconic emblems and motifs.
If there is one thing we absolutely adore Coach and Stuart Vevers for, it is definitely their continuous pursuit of innovation, creativity and individuality in fashion. For Fall/Winter 2024, Coach continues its celebration of self-expression and freedom by reimagining the house’s heritage and legacy through the lens of today’s generation of trailblazers and tastemakers.
Hosting the Fall 2024 runway show at The James B. Duke House, creative director Stuart Vevers recontextualised Coach's authentic New York legacy and luxury codes, where he evolved his take on American classicism mixed with a youthful counter-culture attitude. The collection introduced heritage archetypes in leather, denim, and cotton, lovingly distressed to highlight the beauty and value of garments with character and history.
Outerwear featured house icons like the trench coat and leather shearling jackets, along with a reinterpreted cardigan jacket crafted from workwear-inspired distressed materials. Amidst all of that, Vevers also explored tailoring and dress silhouettes, where tuxedo jackets and trousers were contrasted with collegiate hoodies and school blazers custom-embroidered with unique Coach crests and the models’ initials and last names.
On this collection, Vevers says, "I was inspired by the city as a setting for love stories old and new, and the unique tension between the romantic and the real that exists here. Embracing love-worn textures and repurposed materials is key to this vision, as it’s about finding joy in the present and celebrating how the next generation is redefining heritage in their own way."
Continuing the Coach (Re)Loved program, which focuses on circular craft, the Fall 2024 collection also highlighted denim, leather, and shearling pieces made from second-hand materials, patchworked into new designs. The house also reimagined taffeta party dresses into tops and skirts with a counter-culture vibe. Vevers’ commitment to sustainability was evident throughout the collection, with the use of regenerative materials setting new standards for everyday fashion.
Over in leather goods, which is part of Coach’s core business, the house introduced its New York collection, featuring the debut of the Brooklyn bag and the Empire Carryall in the brand's iconic leathers, adding playful proportions to classic silhouettes. A new version of the Tabby bag, the Times Square Tabby, was also seen on the runway, crafted from love-worn, washed nappa, and velvet; and dressed with charms inspired by iconic New York souvenirs, including figurines of the Empire State Building and the Statue of Liberty, yellow taxis, and postcards with personalized messages written to each model.
