Attention: Sabato de Sarno has revved up the engine for Gucci’s Fall/Winter 2024, and you’re in for a ride. After laying the foundations last season, the creative director’s second womenswear collection features elevated details and designs that make a statement, the Sabato way. “My dreams, as with my fashion, always converse with reality. Because I am not searching for another world to live in, but rather of ways to live in this world,” states the show notes.

The star of the show was its outerwear. Every piece was tailored to perfection, from long coats and bombers that are intricately embellished to utilitarian jackets and oversized short coats adorned with logo buttons. The craftsmanship extends to the rest of the line-up, as wool midi dresses beautifully envelop the body. The sexy slip dresses come longer now, some shimmering with sequins and some, emblazoned in archival ‘50s motifs. The best things clearly come in twos, too, as most ensembles are sent down in pairs, in different shades, each distinctive on its own.

Shoes-wise, last season’s platform loafers now come in the form of slingback platform heels, and the array of equestrian boots are punctuated with an elongated metal Horsebit. But the bag department was where Sabato had extra fun this round, as a new top-handle silhouette — named the GG Milano — as well as a half-moon silhouette made their debut in a colourful palette.
