An iconoclast that defies the rules of fashion,   Azzedine Alaïa is a legend that we will sorely miss.

A fashion iconoclast and couturier&nbsp;dubbed&nbsp;the &quot;King of Cling&quot;, Azzedine Ala&iuml;a is a legend celebrated by all and yesterday, he has&nbsp;passed away at the age of 77.

And he will remain a legend celebrated in the holy halls of fashion&nbsp;forever.

When the news of his passing (due to heart failure, as stated by his company) was announced by French Haute Couture Federation on Saturday, our hearts broke and the entire industry wept for the loss of a genius.

Even as we wait for more&nbsp;updates on this saddening news, we remember&nbsp;Ala&iuml;a for his visionary works, his rebellious self who never conforms to the fashion week schedules and rules, his understanding of the woman&#39;s body and his brilliance in creating form-fitting masterpieces that forever remain&nbsp;in the fashion hall of fame.

Some like Naomi Campbell and Christy Turlington&nbsp;knows him simply&nbsp;as &quot;Papa&quot;.

Since the news broke, the entire fashion world poured in with their own tributes to this brilliant Tunisian-born designer, who rocked the world since the &#39;80s, on social media.

He who semi-retired in the &#39;90s <a href="https://www.lofficielmalaysia.com/fashion/azzedine-alaia-haute-couture-return">made his return to the runway just months ago</a> at the Fall 2017 couture shows and the world rejoiced!

A designer loved by his peers including Riccardo Tisci, Marc Jacobs and Rei Kawakubo, supermodels like Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford and Christy Turlington, celebrities like Lady Gaga and Mariah Carey, editors like Edward Enninful and Grace Coddington, and just about everyone who&#39;d met him or seen his work, Azzedine Ala&iuml;a&nbsp;is truly &quot;the little man in eternal Chinese pajamas&rdquo; who &ldquo;built a legend, that of a rebel designer who worked against the system and its trends.&rdquo;
