Matthew Williams' debut Givenchy collection hits online store
Following Creative Director Matthew Williams’ first collection for Givenchy, select pieces from the Spring/Summer 2021 lineup release today in a Teaser capsule. To tide us over until the full collection’s drop in February 2021, this Teaser edit highlights the designer’s new chapter at the French fashion house with women’s and menswear pieces that blend his sleek utilitarian details with the maison’s knack for timeless luxury.
While you won’t find the three-toed shoes and Givenchy G-string among the street-forward offering of sweatshirts and tees, denim separates, and tailored pairings, a horned baseball cap makes for a statement accessory. Throughout the capsule, shoes and handbags take a unisex approach, thanks in part to Williams’ hardware detailing. Chains feature prominently as necklaces for men and women, while Givenchy’s signature Antigona leather bag is upgraded with a 4G-logo padlock, also found on leather boots for the season. Givenchy slides for men and platform sandals for women also lean into the Yeezy camp of minimalist footwear that hypebeasts will no doubt appreciate.
Meanwhile, zippers, locks, and eyelet rings accent the fashion in the capsule, adding sleek elements to classics like a white collared shirt, black pencil skirt, and branded pullover. Complementing the new basics, Williams presents luxe treatments of denim and leather, with crackled finishes for the former and a smooth croc embossed effect for the latter. Rounding out the Teaser capsule are tailored blazers and slim-cut trousers, sticking more closely to the polish that Clare Waight Keller was known for at Givenchy, although not without Williams’ distinct urban flair.
Givenchy’s Teaser capsule is now available to shop online and in select Givenchy stores.
