The 97th Academy Awards, more known as the Oscars, was nothing short of a grand commemoration of the world’s biggest talents in film of the last year. Under the night sky of the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, the celebration was not only full of historic achievements but also show-stopping fashion moments.

Tonight, the leading ladies of the Oscars truly understood the assignment by serving looks that range from Hollywood’s golden age to garments fresh off the couture runways. The red carpet also saw the rise of sophisticated bows, crystal embellishments, and metallic fabrics. The stars showcased a variety of silhouettes, from dramatic ball gowns to timeless frocks.

In a crowd full of glitz and glamor, we narrowed down the women who showed up and dressed out at this year’s Academy Awards.

Ariana Grande in Schiaparelli

Adorned with 190,000 crystal sequins and rhinestones, Ariana Grande continues to exude the whimsical and ethereal presence of Glinda in a soft pink, voluminous gown with a chandelier-like peplum from Schiaparelli’s Spring 2025 collection.

Cynthia Erivo in Louis Vuitton

Cynthia Erivo looked stunningly wicked in her custom dark emerald green gown from Louis Vuitton, which was inspired by the first Black actress to win an Oscar, Hattie McDaniel. The gown’s exaggerated silhouette features pannier hips, a bow-shaped top, and a high collar cutout.

Elle Fanning in Givenchy

Elle Fanning exuded timeless elegance in her white-laced gown with a black bow belt by Givenchy. She’s wearing the first look of Sarah Burton in her new creative role at the illustrious French house, giving a nod to Hubert de Givenchy’s first collection from 1952.

Felicity Jones in Armani Privé

Felicity Jones stuns the crowd with her liquid-like silver gown designed by Giorgio Armani Privé. The structured dress exhibits a backless silhouette, a statement bow in front and cutouts near the waist, accentuating her toned figure — all while glistening under the lights.

Mikey Madison in Dior

It’s a classic move to bring old Hollywood glamor to the Oscars, and Mikey Madison’s outfit embodies that eternal sophistication. Dressed in Dior, this Oscar-winning Best Actress embraces a two-toned column gown with a black bandeau and pastel pink satin skirt, topped with a bow and a cascading train at the back.

Fernanda Torres in Chanel

I’m Still Here star Fernanda Torres debuted a black Chanel gown, reminiscent of her mother’s look, Fernanda Montenegro, at the 1999 Oscars. This frock highlights intricate mesh and guipure lace, accentuated by a chiffon skirt ruffled with feathers that bring delicate movements to the garment.

Lupita Nyong’o in Chanel

Lupita Nyong’o looked iridescent with her ivory Chanel ensemble that was embellished with 22,000 pearl details from the straps to its tassels. It also features a silver crystal-beaded corset and pleated charmeuse skirt, topped with an ivory satin bow at the waist.

Raffey Cassidy in Loewe

Bows may be having a moment on the red carpet, but the size of the knot on Raffey Cassidy’s shoulder surely stood out from the rest. This sculptural element punctuated her asymmetrical Loewe gown, making this look a mix of drama and elegance.

Miley Cyrus in Alexander McQueen

Channeling gothic glamor, Miley Cyrus rocked an Alexander McQueen halter-neck ensemble with a beaded bodice that tapered down into a striking silhouette. Paired with her newly bleached brows and lace gloves, Cyrus brought out an edgy twist to an otherwise opulent ensemble.

Lisa in Mark Gong

Blackpink member and rising actress Lisa has turned heads at the Oscars with her Mark Gong floor-length tuxedo layered over a collared white shirtdress. This ensemble is also detailed with a red carnation brooch, while a pair of flared black pants peeking beneath — creating a bold, androgynous impression.
