Why the Valentino Pavillon Des Folies SS25 line should be on your radar

Presented in an exclusive showcase in Bangkok, the pieces — especially the bags — are not to be missed.

Let’s rewind to September 2024: A few months after dropping his surprise first collection in June, Alessandro Michele presented his debut Valentino show during Paris Fashion Week to much anticipation. What appeared to be a celebration of excess was, in fact, a seamless fusion of the designer’s personal aesthetic with the Maison’s rich archives. The result? 85 co-ed looks that are equal parts refined and opulent.

Fast forward to a few weeks ago: We were flown to Bangkok, Thailand for an exclusive event celebrating the launch of the the Pavillon Des Folies Spring/Summer 2025 line. Basking in the curated space at The Glass House, Nai Lert Park, we got the chance to experience the magic of the collection up-close. Archival bows, ruffles and polka dots took centre stage, elevated by Eastern elements and intricate embroideries that embodied artisanal mastery and couture craftsmanship.

At the cocktail party that evening, brand ambassador Freen Sarocha made a striking appearance in a standout look, donning an embroidered jacket with stones and sequins. She completed the ensemble with the Foliefoliage pumps and the 9to5 shoulder bag, emblazoned in the “Cherryfic” print — one of the key motifs this season.

Speaking of accessories, the bags were undoubtedly another major highlight, with an array of Valentino Garavani bags presented in the line-up. The aforementioned 9to5 bag can be found in a more versatile cotton canvas and leather iterations, but the raffia jacquard design with all-over “Cherryfic” pattern is the ideal piece for summer and beyond. Other everyday designs include the well-loved Vain bag, now updated with two strap options — an adjustable leather one and a short chain — offering maximum versatility.

The Nellcôte bag, on the other hand, is made to make a statement. Inspired by the eclectic ‘60s, the suede flat crossbody is accented with fringes and studs for a bold, head-turning impact. New models include a tote bag that’s a great pick for everyday wear. Select from the mini or medium silhouette that features oversized palladium-finish studs along the outer edges. But perhaps the most talked-about of all is the cat-shaped minaudière, aptly named Le Chat de la Maison. Hand-painted to achieve its unique shade, this clutch can be carried in-hand or by the platinum-finish chain strap. And here’s the kicker: only three are available in Southeast Asia.
