Year In Rewind: Our 16 biggest Instagram moments of 2019
TONG BING YU x DECORTÉ
Kickstarting 2019, we had a very special collaboration with Decorté, the leading Japanese luxury cosmetics and skincare brand, where we star actress Tong Bing Yu in a special short film feature, exclusively live on Instagram.
THE PASSING OF KARL LAGERFELD
In February, the fashion world was hit by a storm of tragedy when the news of Karl Lagerfeld's passing came to light. A legendary icon of our world, the month of February was followed by an immense amount of tributes to Karl; and we also witnessed a showcase of his last works at Paris Fashion Week.
THE STAR-STUDDED PARTY AT COACH KLCC
Every year, Coach never fails to wow us with its immensely cool and exciting events and for 2019, we joined in the merriment at the Coach KLCC Opening Party, where a string of international stars was also in attendance (see our Instagram video recap).
SELF-PORTRAIT IN LANGKAWI
Returning to Malaysia to launch its swimwear collection launch, Self-Portrait hosted an exclusive getaway in Langkawi with an international cast of fashionistas including Aimee Song, Tiffany Hsu and Xenia Adonts and we were lucky enough to be one of the few who joined in the sunny excitement.
BLACKPINK'S KILL THIS LOVE MV DEBUT
It is no exaggeration to say that K-Pop has truly taken over the world in 2019 and Blackpink is a name no stranger when it comes to fashion. Their comeback this year with Kill This Love was one filled with designer looks that have us going "gaga" for weeks!
OUR COVER WITH NEELOFA
One of our biggest milestones in 2019 was the cover shoot with Neelofa, one of Malaysia's most iconic celebrities as she was the first-ever Hijabi on the L'Officiel cover in Southeast Asia – all dressed in Swarovski jewels and Fendi. Definitely one for the books!
OUR FAVOURITE KOLS IN GUCCI
At a rather intimate presentation at Gucci for the #GucciTowardsSummer collection, our stylish Malaysian personalities got the town buzzing with their impeccable looks (all Gucci, of course) in a chic fashion family portrait starring the likes of Jane Chuck, Juwei Teoh, Kittie, Ridduan, Brian See and Han Pin.
#LVTIMECAPSULE IN KUALA LUMPUR
The first of its kind in Malaysia, the Louis Vuitton Time Capsule exhibition took over Kuala Lumpur like a raging storm of fashion and the opening night was a celebrity-filled affair, featuring Neelofa, Alvin Chong, Marion Caunter and more, that has the town in a social media frenzy.
Another big personality feature we have for 2019 that got us giddy with joy is the exclusive interview with Gail Elliott, one of the original 90s supermodels, where she shares intimate details about her career highlights, her friendship with Cindy Crawford and her own label Little Joe Woman.
WHEN JU XIAO WEN GO BALD FOR US
September has always been our biggest issue of the year (one, for the Fall/Winter collection features and another, as our anniversary issue) and this September 2019, we got the world 'shooketh' with amazement where we star Chinese supermodel Ju Xiao Wen on the cover and she went bald for us! The buzz was so great that we were even trending in the top 10 list of Weibo!
JUWEI & YAYA x LONGCHAMP
On special brand collaborations, we also had the Longchamp feature where we cast Juwei Teoh and Yaya Zahir in a special photoshoot featuring the Longchamp Fall/Winter 2019 collection, where the new Longchamp LGP print took centre stage1
In November 2019, we also have another spectacular cover shoot with Korean actress Oh Yeon Seo (dressed in Kate Spade), which comes with an exclusive interview feature where she talks about her new drama People With Flaws, that debuted in November 2019 as well.
"WHAT IS LOVE?" BY BURBERRY
Heading to the last quarter of the year, we have Burberry's festive campaign that starred a diverse cast of talents including Carla Bruni, Zhou Dongyu,Yoo Ah-in, Lea T, Boychild, Wu Tsang, Sasha Pivovarova, Marina Morena, Mahmood and more.
While the film might look fairly clean and minimal, the message it brings created plenty of buzz on the web.
JI CHANG WOOK IN SINGAPORE FOR CARTIER
The definition of excitement went on a whole new level when we joined in the Clash de Cartier special pop-up event in Singapore, where Korean actor Ji Chang Wook made a special appearance. Together with the unique set-up featuring a multi-sensory experience of the Clash de Cartier, this event is definitely one of the most buzz-worthy ones in the Southeast Asia region.
Like we said before, K-culture (or more specifically K-Pop) had truly taken over 2019 because Blackpink appears again in another of our most hyped Instagram posts of the year, where we feature an interview with the girls (adapted from Jalouse China), where they talked about their plans for 2020.
#JANEHANPINLYMARRIED
To say that #JaneHanpinlyMarried was the wedding of the year in Malaysia for 2019 is by no means an exaggeration. Marking the social event of the year, the fashionable couple hosted their wedding reception on Christmas day itself where the theme was "Winter Wonderland" and we were lucky to be part of this momentous occasion!
