Cartier names BTS' V as global ambassador
The K-pop icon joins other A-list stars such as Rami Malek, Elle Fanning, Jackson Wang and more.
Rumours have been swirling since June this year that one of the members of top K-pop boy group, BTS is being picked up by Cartier to be their ambassador. At that time, fans and media outlets such as Hypebeast were speculating that the member is likely to be Jin. Today, we've got confirmation it is in fact, Kim Tae-hyung, better known by his stage name V, who is becoming the French maison's newest global ambassador.
The announcement was made this morning when it was unveiled by the maison that V was also the star of their latest Panthère de Cartier campaign. "When it came to embodying the magnetism and aura of the panther, our choice naturally fell on V," Senior Vice-president and Chief Marketing Officer, Arnaud Carrez explained, "He has the look and strength of character. A personality whose choices are guided by creativity as a dancer, musician or art lover, with this style and this elegance that belong only to him."
V will be joining an already star-studded list of ambassadors for the maison, including Jackson Wang, Elle Fanning, Rami Malek, Willow Smith and more. The K-pop icon is already famously the face of Celine and his incredible influence has seen many pieces worn by him instantly selling out. We would imagine the same is likely to be the case for any jewellery piece the star chooses to don.
While V is known for his work with his fellow BTS members, the star is also steadily building his solo discography which includes hits like "Stigma", "Singularity" and "Inner Child". V has also flexed his song-writing skills with contributions in songs like, "4 O'CLOCK", "Scenery", "Winter Bear" and “Blue & Grey”. Beyond music, V has became even more of a household name by being part of Youn's Kitchen, a Korean cooking variety programme alongside his IRL friends, Park Seo-joon and Choi Woo-shik.
