Omega presents the 2021 Constellation Small Seconds novelties

Omega delivers yet another sparkling selection of new Constellation models, energised by a Small Seconds sub dial with enthralling dial colours and diamonds.

Omega has rolled out one of its boldest Constellation novelties to date. Usually boasting a subtler sensibility, this icon that was born in 1952 is among the most recognisable timepieces in modern mainstream horology. Starting out as a men’s chronometer in the 1950s, the Constellation Manhattan as we know it today hails from a 1982 rendition that has given birth to its emblematic and distinctive claws and half-moon facets.

Upping the ante for 2021, this enduring timepiece symbol of beauty and precision has ushered in new Small Seconds iterations for the Constellation family for ladies, replete with an abundance of diamonds and unique details. In a new contemporary 34 mm case size, the line-up is a diverse one, anchored by 18k Sedna™gold, stainless steel, or a combination of steel and gold.

There is also a choice between engraved Roman numerals, or a ring of 38 full-cut diamonds on the watch bezel.

Keeping things sleek and modern, the 2018 revamp symbolised by the Constellation’s fifth generation continues to assert its influence to imbue the 2021 versions evidenced by the brushed components of polished bevelling along the case body and bracelet, alongside a polished crown with an embossed Ω logo to finish the slimline look. Integrated seamlessly around the sides of the case, the hallmark claws flaunt a polished and bevelled appearance.

Not only is the element of symmetry perfected in the Small Seconds models, but their detailing is immaculate, starting from the round date window rimmed in gold at 6 o’clock where incremental diamonds—placed in 18k gold holders and arranged by size—fan out in a circle for the hour markers with the largest diamond positioned at noon.

For added definition, a ring feature is added to enhance and elevate the Small Seconds sub-dial and the Central Minute Track. For the most lavish models, 18k Sedna™ gold and refined single-cut diamonds embellish these rings.

As the leaf-shaped hands sweep around the dial, and the Small Seconds hand around the sub dial, a glint from the 18k Sedna™ gold or 18k white gold used to craft these hands catches the eye. Seen on the dial are the applied Omega logo and Constellation star which are also matched in the same gold as the hands.

Either leather strap to match the dial or full-metal mono-rang bracelet option is available for the Small Seconds Constellation. The attractive bracelet is identified by its brushed links with polished central bars and a butterfly clasp with a 2 mm easy comfort adjustment.

To the utmost credit of the Constellation Small Seconds, it is not just about form no matter how beautifully designed it is. Endowed with the Omega Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 8802 or 8803 providing approximately 55 hours of power reserve, it boasts the Swiss industry’s highest certified standard of precision, performance and magnetic resistance with the requisite full 5-year warranty. A domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflection on the case back gives a sneak peek of the mechanical movement with a special luxury finish within.

One of the main factors catapulting the 2021 Constellation into vibrant new territory comes from the exquisite colour treatment that has been rendered on the dial. Taking the lead is the dial in sun-brushed burgundy that emanates not just extravagance and sophistication but heritage as well. Other dial variants for the collection include: mother-of-pearl, sun-brushed peacock blue or light chestnut.
