Interview: David Yong on his first single release as an RBW artist
His latest single release, titled "Maybe Love", also features his RBW labelmate Moonbyul of MAMAMOO.
The multi-talented entrepreneur, lawyer and K-pop artist, David Yong (@dynimm), is back and this time, he unveils his latest single titled Maybe Love.
An urban pop song written with the spring season and romance in mind, Maybe Love marks David's first music release as an RBW artist and features his fellow labelmate Moonbyul of MAMAMOO.
Freshly launched on 17th April worldwide with a joyful and romantic music video, the song has climbed into the Top 10 music charts in several countries including Malaysia, Singapore and Hong Kong.

To celebrate his latest success, L'Officiel gets a chance to sit down with this amazing artist to talk about his new song, his motivation and his plans for the rest of 2023.
You're finally back with a new single after your debut single in 2022. What was the process of preparing the song like?
This was my first song after signing with RBW, my Korean label, and it took 9 months of preparation to choose the right song, the right lyrics and the perfect spring-happy vibes that I wanted to portray in my music. I was also looking for the right featuring artist to match the song and it was perfect we got Moonbyul from the top K-Pop girl group MAMAMOO to hop on the track.
This is the first collaborative track with Mamamoo's Moonbyul, who is your labelmate. How did this collaboration kickstarted?
I first met Moonbyul when she joined me in my dance challenge for my K-hip hop fun dance track In My Pocket. Since then our friendship grew and we started working together musically after I entered RBW. When MAMAMOO did their concert in Singapore we managed to spend a lot of time together at the after-party to further develop the song together. It was a pleasure getting to know her and her talented rap making as well as vocals always inspire me.
What do you want your listeners to take away from this song?
I feel that these days everything is moving at such a fast pace, even when couples go on dates and get into relationships, it all happens instantly. I hope this song brings back happy memories of ‘ssum’ (썸 - the Korean term for a fun fling or a flirtatious beginning of a relationship).
I think it will have people of all generations remember the nuanced dating intricacies that make their hearts flutter. A little romance is always nice. You can also listen to this song and discover a different side of my music and a softer side of me that you haven't seen before. I hope it will be a track that everyone can listen to easily wherever they go and uplift their mood.
What motivates and inspires you as a creative talent?
As I have been travelling across Asia and Europe since young. The different cultural experiences and the people that I meet all contribute to my creative juices and I hope to share more of it through my music and work. I enjoy trying new things and breaking boundaries. Challenging myself in new endeavours and reaching for high heights motivate me to be a great leader and a creative person.
2023 is off to an amazing start for you. What more do you have planned for your fans and followers this year?
In the summer I will be releasing a hot EDM pop track with an internationally acclaimed DJ which would be perfect for summer vibes and beach parties.
