Many have said that there is truly something enigmatic and captivating about Korean actress and Longchamp ambassador, Kim Sejeong and we got to experience that feeling during the recent grand opening of Longchamp at The Exchange TRX, where the star made her first event appearance for the brand in the Asia region.
We all know and love her from her works - be it K-dramas like The Uncanny Counter and Business Proposal or her music as a solo artist - but that is nothing compared to seeing this stellar artist in person, who exudes so much charisma that you will fall head to toes for her on first sight.
Dressed in the chicest Longchamp black dress from the Spring/Summer 2024 collection, she was greeted by hundreds of screaming fans and flashing camera lights as she arrived at the opening event, but not once did she flatter. Lucky for us, we were one of the few exclusive media titles to be invited to an intimate interview session with this charismatic lady and boy, were we charmed all over again!
First of all, welcome back to Kuala Lumpur. How does it feel to be back again after your recent concert in Malaysia?
My last visit to Kuala Lumpur was a short trip, but I remember it fondly because the energy was great, the weather was so nice and I couldn't wait to come back again. When this opportunity with Longchamp came, I was very happy!
This is your first-ever event appearance in Asia as the Longchamp brand ambassador. What were you most excited about this trip?
It's a great responsibility for me and I always put in my utmost effort to spread the name of Longchamp and live as its ambassador. It’s such an honour working with the brand, and I’m looking forward to working with Longchamp for more collections to come.
It's been a full year since you've been appointed as Longchamp's brand ambassador. How was the experience like so far?
As I said earlier, the responsibility is very great for me. I’m always glad that Longchamp trusts and supports me throughout the entire process. I want to live up to the brand's expectations as an exemplary Longchamp ambassador to repay them sincerely.
They appreciate what I’ve done for the past year, and I’m looking forward to representing more of their amazing collections of clothes, apparel, bags, and shoes. It motivates me to work out more diligently and take care of myself to show my best side.”
What is your most memorable moment with Longchamp?
For me, every time I go for a photo shoot for a new collection, it’s a memorable experience, especially when it’s in Paris. Whenever I’m there, they take such good care of me like I am part of their family.
They take pride in their design and collections and would teach me all about the inspirations behind them, and as their ambassador, it allows me to understand their brand even better. So, I feel like after every project I do with them, we managed to foster an even better relationship.
What does the brand Longchamp mean to you?
Energetic, healthy, and positive. I feel like that is what represents Longchamp and they are truly authentic. I’m really grateful and thankful for that. What I’ve observed is that there is no hierarchy in Longchamp, the whole team is working towards the same goal and bringing the best out of everyone.
Which is your favourite Longchamp bag?
I have two. The first is the signature Roseau bag, which I love for its simple design. It is something I can carry every day for different looks, whether I'm going for a casual look or a more dressed-up occasion.
My second pick would be the Le Pliage. I would say this is a bag that people of all ages would love as it’s light and practical. I’m the type of person who carries a lot of things, so I love that it comes in all sizes.
What are the essential items you always have inside your bag?
First, it’s my diary, it’s something that I carry with me all year round. It’s not thick, it’s rather thin, it’s somewhat like a calendar diary that I use to take notes of daily things. The second item would be my pencil case as I like to write (especially for my diary), so I bring along some stationery with me wherever I go.
The third would be a book. Although I don’t read all that much, I want to improve my vocabulary. So, I always bring a book around to read whenever I have the time.
How would you describe your personal style?
Coincidentally, my style aligns with Longchamp’s aesthetic very well because I’m the type who goes for comfort and minimalism. No matter the occasion, Longchamp has something for me - dressed up or dressed down.
Finally, what's next for you? We know that you've been keeping yourself very busy in both acting and music.
You have been keeping yourself busy with multiple projects including your theatre debut and album release, what can fans look forward to in 2024?
As of right now, there is nothing confirmed yet, so it’s difficult for me to disclose more details, but for, I always try to stay busy in order to have a long career in both acting and music. So, I am working diligently to prepare my album, and in terms of acting, I’m reviewing scripts to select one that suits me well and will share more with my fans soon.
Above all, it will be a year where I, Kim Se-Jeong, as a person, would intentionally prioritise rest. It’s a year of rest and personal growth so that I can become a more well-rounded and developed person.
