Meet the cast of GMMTV's remake of the iconic drama "Scarlet Heart"
Remember the heart-wrenching love story of Hae Soo (IU) and Wang So (Lee Joon-gi) that spans through time and space in 2016? Now it will be remade as a Thai adaptation.
That's right — a Thai version of the iconic K-drama "Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo" is on its way! GMMTV, Thailand's renowned television company, has unveiled a teaser for their 2025 adaptation called "Scarlet Heart Thailand".
With a star-studded cast including GMMTV's biggest stars like Win Metawin, Tu Tontawan, Nanon Korapat and more, this period romance drama follows a modern girl who is transported back to the era when Thailand was a monarchy. She awakens in the body of her past incarnation, living in the home of a prince. As she adjusts to her new life, she befriends various princes and becomes entangled in their power struggles for the throne.
The original novel eventually developed into much larger works, such as the 2011 Chinese drama adaptation Scarlet Heart (步步惊心, Bu Bu Jing Xin) and the sensational 2016 Korean drama "Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo," starring IU, Lee Joon Gi, and Kang Ha Neul. Judging by the costumes in the teaser, the drama appears to be set during the Rattanakosin period.
Here is a list of the cast and the roles we believe they will portray, based on posters, fan speculations, and the teaser:
Tu Tontawan as Hae Soo/Ruo Xi
Leading the series is model and actress Tu Tontawan, known for her role in "F4 Thailand: Boys Over Flowers", who will be playing the role of Hae Soo/Ruo Xi. A modern-day girl, Tu is thrown back in time and encounters the princes and captivates everyone's heart throughout her journey. This will be the second time Tu acts with Win after F4 Thailand!
Win Metawin as the 4th Prince Wang So/Yin Zhen
GMMTV's crown prince, Win, is speculated to portray the 4th Prince, the leading male lead. A character despised throughout his life, he longs for acceptance from his family and subjects. His confidence is shattered by harsh criticism, making him defensive and fiery. His hardened heart begins to soften when he falls for Tu’s character, even though their love seems destined for tragedy.
Nanon Korapat as the 8th Prince Wang Wook/Yin Si
Nanon is anticipated to take on the role of the 8th Prince, a key rival in the battle for both love and the throne against Win's 4th Prince. In the plot, despite being born to a humble palace maid, the 8th Prince is driven by a desire to gain the respect of his brothers and the court, fuelling his quest for supreme power. He is characterized by his intelligence, gentleness, and tenderness, but faces inner conflict as he is torn between his romantic feelings and political ambitions.
Tay Tawan as the 3rd Prince Wang Yo/Yin Zi
In the teaser film, Tay is spotted sitting on a chair, symbolizing the 3rd Prince’s ambition for the throne. The 3rd Prince is the quintessential bad boy, eager for power and glory. Fans are excited to see Tay in a villainous role (rather contrasting to his sunny and bright personality), intensifying his rivalry with the 4th prince while looking exceptionally hot at the same time.
Force Jiratchapong as the 9th Prince Wang Won/Yin Tang
Debuting in 2017, Force has quickly become a rising star. In the teaser, he ignites a flame, reflecting his character’s tendency to incite conflict. An ally of the 3rd prince, the 9th Prince is the perfect villain, spiteful and narcissistic, yet likely to capture some hearts. After all, we all love a little bit of bad-boy in our men, right?
Perth Tanapon as the 10th Prince Wang Eun/Yin É
Famous for his role as Ae in "Love by Chance", Perth is also a talented musician. Initially, the 10th Prince has a ‘love at first sight’ crush on Tu’s character, and his playful antics brighten the darkest days. This role mirrors Perth's real-life personality, making him a fan-favourite choice!
Phuwin Tangsakyuen as the 13th Prince Baek Ah / Yin Xiang
Beloved by fans of the novel, the 13th Prince stands out as an unconventional royal who values an independent life beyond the palace walls. His relaxed and steadfast demeanour allows him to connect with Tu’s character, who embodies a 21st-century mindset, making him her closest confidant. His unwavering loyalty to his brother, the 4th Prince, adds to his charm, making him a truly swoon-worthy character.
Fourth Nattawat as the14th Prince Wang Jung/Yinti
The 14th Prince is known for his selfless and unconditional love. He quietly supports Tu’s character through her emotional turmoil and stays by her side until the end. This will be the first time Fourth acts alongside Nanon, whom he admires and aspires to be like. So it's really exciting what their chemistry will be like on screen.
Given that this is an adaptation in Thailand, the plot will be adapted to fit local historical contexts, and characters may undergo changes to better illustrate the story. While nothing concrete has been announced yet, the production set for 2025 also has fans eagerly anticipating the release.
Stay tuned for the release date and official character announcement, which will be announced later!
