From the moment you book until your departure, guests are surrounded by exceptional care, allowing for a complete immersion in the mountain experience. Here, we’re excited to share our adventures and experiences from our summer trip to Club Med Tomamu and Club Med Kiroro Grand in Hokkaido.

Upon arriving at the New Chitose Airport, it takes about an hour and a half to reach Club Med Tomamu, nestled among stunning mountain views. At the resort, we were greeted by a contemporary and spacious reception area. The bar, theatre and the main restaurant are conveniently situated on different levels above the reception for easy access. With 322 guest rooms featuring a stylish blend of modern and natural chic designs, the resort comfortably accommodates families and larger groups.

At Club Med Tomamu, guests can revel in the breathtaking beauty of Hokkaido’s mountains and embark on unparalleled summer adventures. Traverse stunning trails on guided nature hikes, practice yoga in the mountains, try your hand at the Flying Trapeze or surf the waves at Mina-Mina Beach, Japan’s largest indoor wave pool, right at the resort’s doorstep. It’s worth noting that Unkai Terrace, situated over 1,000 m above sea level, offers an observation facility with close-up views of the mesmerising sea of clouds when weather conditions are favourable. Upon reaching the mountain via gondola, you can explore Cloud9, which features six distinct decks along the mountain trail: Cloud Walk, Sky Wedge, Contour Bench, Cloud Pool, Cloud Bed and Cloud Bar, each providing unique perspectives and vistas.

Next, we headed to Club Med Kiroro Grand, where remarkable natural beauty blends with Hokkaido’s distinctive character. Newly opened last December, Club Med Kiroro Grand is debuting its first summer season this year. This winter wonderland evolves into an adventure hub in the summer, featuring activities like mountain boarding, an 18-hole park golf course and Nordic walking.

At Club Med Kiroro Grand, set amid untouched nature, the rooms echo ancient Ainu traditions with designs inspired by mystical forests. Enjoy serenity with a traditional Japanese onsen, spa and dedicated wellness facilities. Four distinctive restaurants and a main bar offer a delectable culinary experience, highlighting the rich flavours of Hokkaido.

At Club Med, families are central to the experience, with a focus on creating unforgettable moments for both parents and kids. The resort features the renowned Kids Club, offering a wide range of activities for children from 4 months to 17 years, all supervised by caring professionals. While children are happily engaged, parents can enjoy some well-earned couple time. For families seeking to bond, the Club Med Amazing Family program provides fun activities that build lasting memories.

If you’re up for exploring, a 40-minute journey will take you to the historic town of Otaru, known for its rich local heritage. Discover the art of glassblowing, enjoy a leisurely walk along the charming Otaru Canal and be captivated by the melodies of beautiful music boxes. You will have the chance to indulge in fresh Hokkaido specialities at the lively Sankaku Fish Market and experience authentic Japanese flavours with local sake and beers at nearby artisanal distilleries.

While Club Med Tomamu and Club Med Kiroro Grand are famously known for their exceptional winter sports and skiing, exploring Hokkaido with Club Med during the summer presents a different and equally compelling experience. The summer season offers a range of adventures that showcase the region’s beauty in a new light, making it a worthwhile experience to explore beyond the winter months.
