It was the longest week in May, and I decided to wrap it with a much-needed full-body unwind at Ur Spa. Situated on the sixth floor of The RuMa. Ur Spa offers a sanctuary away from the hustle below. Local heritage handcrafts like kelarai, rotan and batik details in the treatment room add a touch of warmth and authenticity to the premium space, whilst the lush greenery and therapeutic music set a perfect backdrop for the 90-minute Urutan Malaysia ahead.

Embodying the country’s diverse culture and nature wonders, Urutan Malaysia is a holistic experience that brings together traditional healing practices passed down through generations. I was instantly soothed by the Aromatic Foot Soak infused with refreshing lemon and calming rose at the very beginning of the therapy. The Qi Gong breathing followed, along with Indian Head Massage to promote deep relaxation and calm the nerves.
Then came the Malay Massage and Reflexology, accompanied by a tropical concoction of warming herbs to help stimulate blood circulation and detox. My therapist, Wendy, paid extra attention to my request to focus on my back and shoulders, using a combination of strokes and Inan pressure to relieve muscle tension that comes from long screen time and bad posture.
Urutan Malaysia involves many deep tissue massages which can feel discomfort and intimidating at times. Wendy’s patience and attentiveness made all the difference. She took time to understand my body’s reaction and gently eased my stiffness without making me feel embarrassed or uncomfortable. As the massage continued, I could feel the tension and stress melting away, which allowed me to completely relax and indulge in every moment.
