Dior Spring/Summer 2020 is an ode to nature and Miss Dior
At Hippodrome de ParisLongchamp, Dior presents its Spring/Summer 2020 collection, inspired by Monsieur Dior’s sister Catherine Dior, who was a gardener and also the muse behind the Parisian house's legendary floral parfum "Miss Dior".
Going through the archival photographs of Catherine Dior, creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri translates Miss Dior’s passionate towards flowers and nature into the stories for this collection, celebrating the beautiful souls who cultivate hopes and freedom.
Wild flowers are conjured on dungarees, white skirts and parka -a spectacle of airy fabrics are spotted on the runway, accentuated by sophisticated embroideries, lacings and weaving details to exude the harmony with nature and cycle of seasons.
And together with urban landscaper collectives Coloco, Dior takes action to respond to the environmental and global issue of sustainability with its show set where 164 trees were planted to illustrate the space.
And after the show, these 164 trees from the venue will be arranged to be repurposed for sustainability projects and replanted in different areas of Paris – a kindness to nature needed in fashion industry more than anywhere else.
