October is the perfect time for cosy nights in with movies and popcorn, or to escape work and school with a bit of binge-watching. On top of those motivations, we're only a little over a month out from Halloween, a.k.a. close enough to bust out the horror flicks.

Streaming platforms including Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney Plus and more know all these things and have slated some content that truly fits the bill. Check out our most anticipated watches for this October 2021 including The Guilty, Madame X and Dune.

The Guilty

Jake Gyllenhaal and Ethan Hawke team up in The Guilty, a new thriller coming to Netflix on October 1. In the film, a police detective is demoted to dispatch duty and sets out to save a caller.

It is adapted from a 2018 Danish movie of the same name. Even if crime flicks aren't your thing, check it out for the handsome leading men.

Maid

Margaret Qualley stars in this limited series, based on a best-selling memoir. In the show, Qualley's character becomes a housecleaner in order to make ends meet for her daughter and herself in the midst of escaping an abusive relationship. It is available to stream on Netflix on 1st October 2021.

The Many Saints of Newark

Any fans of The Sopranos? The long-awaited prequel movie, The Many Saints of Newark is hitting HBO Max on 1st October 2021.

The story will follow Dickie Moltisanti (Alessandro Nivola), the father of Michael Imperioli's character Christopher, and the formation of the mob family as we know them in the beloved series. Also making appearances will be actors Ray Liotta, Jon Bernthal, and Vera Farmiga.

Justin Bieber: Our World

Amazon Prime is making a business of music documentaries. Their latest work is Justin Bieber: Our World, a pandemic-era look at the world-famous pop star.

The documentary follows the lead-up to his live-streamed rooftop show on New Year's Eve 2020, the singer's first concert in three years. The film is directed by Michael D. Ratner, who is also behind Demi Lovato: Dancing with the Devil. It will be available on 8th October 2021.

"Madame X"

Packed concerts seem so distant to us now. But, before the pandemic shut down such gatherings, Madonna managed to film a number of shows on her 2019-2020 tour Madame X.

Now, that footage will be released in a concert film of the same name which focuses on her performance in Lisbon, Portugal. A trailer for the film shows costumes and backup dancers galore, and announces, as Madonna herself has often done, "Artists are here to disturb the peace." Madame X will be available to stream on Paramount+ on 8th October 2021.

"You" Season 3

The third season of the thriller will arrive on Netflix on 15th October 2021. Last we saw Joe, played by Penn Badgley, he was up to his usual murderous ways, but this time with a lady lover.

In season 3, the couple retires to the suburbs with their new baby. Joe faces the challenges that come along with parenthood and being a serial killer.

"Succession" Season 3

The Roy family returns to the small screen this October with more drama and infighting than ever. Picking up where last season's fallouts ended, fans will see how the family company adjusts after major structural changes.

A number of new faces and characters will be joining the cast, including Adrien Brody and Alexander Skarsgard. The new season premieres on HBO starting 17th October 2021

Night Teeth

In this pre-Halloween flick, a college student p

osing as a chauffeur picks up two girls with more bloodthirsty intentions than he accounted for. Taking place over the course of one night in L.A., the film's cast includes Sydney Sweeney, Megan Fox, Debby Ryan, and Lucy Fry. It hits Netflix on 20th October 2021, just in time for those looking to get into the spirit of the spooky season.

Dune

This highly anticipated sci-fi thriller was postponed due to the pandemic, but will finally be released this October in theaters and on HBO Max. It stars nearly every celebrity under the sun, but Timothee Chalamet and Zendaya most prominently.

Based on the popular book of the same name, the story follows a young man who must face extreme hardship to become an intergalactic leader. It will be available to stream on 22nd October 2021.

"Last Night In Soho"

In this glamorous thriller, Eloise, an aspiring designer, is magically able to travel back to the 1960s. There, she meets a singer named Sandie who exposes her to a much darker world. The film is directed by Edgar Wright and stars Anya Taylor-Joy, Matt Smith, and Thomasin McKenzie.

Based on early looks at the movie, it promises to be as much about style as it is substance, for those who enjoy a bit of fashion with their films. It hits theatres on 29th October 2021.
