Founded by Veness Soh and Jack Chia, who started selling brunch boxes during the MCO, the café came about after they had to upsize their workspace as orders began piling up. In 2021, Untitled Cafe was born after word got around about the tasty homemade Japanese fare Soh and Chia were serving. The camping design concept was kick-started after the entrepreneurs decorated their venue with fly sheets, camping tables and Kermit chairs which drew crowds as the images started popping up on Instagram feeds. The partners had a brain wave about giving their customers an instant camping experience without them having to lift a finger to prep the equipment.

Untitled Cafe’s relaxed atmosphere creates the perfect setting while the mouth-watering menu items that include yakiniku, sukiyaki and coconut sukiyaki are all made with fresh ingredients. Just remember to make your reservations before heading to this hidden gem.

Located at The Row, Basecamp KL is a rooftop coffee bar that captures the essence of outdoor living with a design that exudes a camping vibe. There, you will be transported to an oasis of wilderness in downtown KL, away from the hustle and bustle. Amidst the cosy ambience of a campground-inspired space, the café serves up scrumptious comfort meals such as Karaage rice bowls and Sawadee Tom Yum pasta. Their watermelon cake and tiramisu will hit the sweet spot, while the signature Watermelon Cooler is refreshing and super thirst-quenching.

Best of all, Basecamp KL is pet-friendly so furry friends can join in to enjoy an urban camping session with their owners. Founder John Kweh created this unique space in 2022 that reflects his adventurous personality, allowing customers to sit back and be a part of the adventure.

With his passion and love for music, Derrick Lim is a self-taught DJ who had the opportunity to play in Malaysia’s trendiest bars. During his DJ-hopping days, he became fascinated with the bar scene, leading him to open his own watering hole.

Rimbar KL is the first camping-themed cocktail bar in Kuala Lumpur, inspired by the peaceful nature which Lim encountered during his travels. Set apart from run-of-the-mill bars, Rimbar KL evokes a camping sensibility with cool tents and lush greenery that transport one into the heart of nature with a fun and lively ambience. It serves an array of creative tipples concocted by the in-house bartenders, bearing monikers such as Amethyst, Hammock and Campfire Old Fashioned. To complement the drinks, finger food such as Shrimp BBQ Boil Packet, Wild Wingettes and Rendang Pizza are choice treats to be savoured.
