Spike Lee, Coach, Michael B Jordan, a three-way collab to end hate
Hot off his Oscar win for BlacKkKlansman last week for Best Adapted Screenplay, Spike Lee is already back with another mega project with Coach – to direct a special short film titled "Words Matter" starring Michael B Jordan.
Shot in Los Angeles, the focus on this new film is for Coach to bring a "strong poetic narrative that speaks to Coach’s values of inclusion, optimism and courage", ushering a new era of the world.
Co-written with his daughter Satchel—who is the creative director at DRØME Magazine—and son, Jackson, the narrative takes us through a dusty desert, where Michael rides on a motorcycle (in Coach's finest, of course) to encounter fragments of concrete engraved with words like “Hatred,” “Evil,” “Bigotry” and “Lies” among the debris.
He then throws those negative rocks far away, and replaces them with new ones with the words “Courage,” “Truth,” “Love” and “Dream” instead, before riding off. Both Spike and Michael, both who had never worked together prior to this film, collaborated in choosing the words.

On the collaboration, Michael says, "Collaborating with the iconic Spike Lee on this short film for Coach was an inspirational experience. Spike’s art has moved the cultural dial for decades. I’m proud of the powerful messaging of this film and to be working alongside a brand that cares about putting that narrative into the world as much as I do."
