Timeless beauty trends to wear this Fall/Winter 2021
These memorable looks from the past still convey bold inspirations.
A homage to the most show-stopping beauty generations, these memorable looks made famous by the fashion icons of the day still deliver pretty modern inspirations.
Here are some of our favourite selections to achieve the looks:
BIG LASH
What better way to replicate the 1970s’ standout exaggerated lashes than channelling the iconic Jane Birkin? Timeless and bewitching, the long lash trend was tapped by Prabal Gurung and Victoria Beckham for Fall/Winter 2021 and they did not hold back on the memorable layering with lavish coats of mascara to achieve the magnificent “spidery” eyelash look.
Equally attention-grabbing were the beauty looks seen at Ports 1961 and Maje which evoked glamorous seduction.
POP GLAMOUR
All about more is more, the period’s vibrant creativity was epitomised by the strong, impactful looks worn by the likes of beauty queens such as Madonna, who set the bar high for maximalist makeup.
For this season, the audacious ’80s has made its way back onto the runway, evidenced by models at LBV, Giorgio Armani Privé and Chanel, whose intensely vivid looks of graphic blue eyeshadow come elevated with magnetic black eyeliner and a sensual metallic sheen.
WAVE THEORY
If there is one hairstyle that has gone through the biggest glow-up, it is evidently the ’90s “blowout waves” seen on that generation’s supermodels such as Cindy Crawford.
Worn flipped to one side, sexy, beautiful tresses cascaded freely, endowed with gloss and volume but not weighed down. From LBV to Vivienne Hu, it is a consensus that the controlled wave hairdo is one top trend that looks effortless yet high octane.
CRIMSON TIDE
Nostalgic fashion moments have graced the recent runways, and naturally, beauty follows closely behind. The iconic glossy lips favoured by Hollywood actress Halle Berry in the early Noughties is a classic, time-tested beauty look for the ages.
For F/W ’21, it shines its way back to the catwalk with models at Vetements, Naeem Khan, Molly Goddard and Paco Rabanne giving their best pouts, courtesy of an alluring swipe of iridescent red lipstick.
