How to get the perfect fluffy mane
Ditch your smoothing serums and bring out the crimpers and curling irons, because this Spring/Summer 2017, we’re going for more volume.
As seen on the runway, there are several levels of “hair-bigness” that we can emulate. Think Topshop Unique’s side-parted, regular-permed waves, Thom Browne’s big, blow-up manes and Vanessa Seward’s super tight, fluffy curls.
Achieving big hair is thankfully, not that difficult – but it takes effort. So, here we have stylist Cody Chua to give us a step-by-step guide on how to achieve those wisps a la Vanessa Seward.
First use a primer on the hair (we recommend Shiseido Professional Stage Works Moisturizing Primer) and then blow dry hair smooth in sections.
Following that, take a small section of hair and twist it around a big U-shaped pin. Repeat until you’re done with your entire hair.
When you’re done, remove all the pins and sprinkle dry powder on the scalp (Chua recommends the Osis+ Dust It mattifying powder) and do some backcombing to give more volume to the hair.
Add final touches of hair spray on the ends of the hair to make it hold. Try Shiseido Professional Stage Works Super Hard Spray.
For the perfect hair care that would complement your big hair days, stock up on some Redken High Rise Volume hair products; the shampoo and conditioner are both lightweight that lift and add body to your hair to prep it for your big style.
With all that hair products and heat in your hair, it’s always important to perform damage control afterwards. After all, healthy hair is always in style. At the end of the day before you retire to bed, smooth on Kiehl’s Smoothing Oil-Infused Leave-In Concentrate, a dense foam that leaves hair nourished after a good night’s sleep.
