Alexander Wang says 'No" to fashion week
Remember when Alexander Wang designed a collection with the slogan "No After Parties This Season"?
Well, it seems that soon that slogan may change to "No Runway This Season," although the jury on the parties is still out, because brand CEO Lisa Gersh announces that Alexander Wang is now forgoing runway shows completely – in favour of a direct-to-consumer marketing plan, going the way of brands such as Public School.
"The innovative approach reframes product on the month that it ships, rather than the outdated labels of ‘resort’ or ‘pre-fall,’ giving our customers more relevant and consistent merchandise throughout the year," the CEO said in a statement to the press, iterating that the people purchasing the brand's products will be "better served" by the new method of distribution.
We can't say we're surprised, as Wang's recent collections with Adidas were sold off the back of trucks and through a text-bot. The brand has been leaning towards a no-season season for a while, and we can't wait to see how they continue to innovate their distribution.
