Daniel Lee makes his Burberry debut for Autumn/Winter 2023
Daniel Lee is taking Burberry into a new era.
Earlier this month, Daniel Lee released his first creative project for the House of Burberry, including a new campaign of British talents captured across London as well as a modified Burberry logo and Equestrian Knight Design. Now, closing out London Fashion Week, Burberry has returned to the LFW calendar as Lee debuts his first collection for the brand.
At Bottega, Lee took the essence of the brand's heritage and gave it a facelift with some modern updates. His work for Burberry is much the same. This isn't your grandmother's Burberry, or even your mother's. This is the Burberry of the Cool Girl—a street style icon that doesn't need the timeless Burberry plaid print to tell people that she's dripping in luxury. Instead, this collection embraces colors and prints, while still hinting at the brand's iconic motif. The old-school Burberry trenches are much more in line with a streetwear feel, and the animal themes, which were evident in Lee's initial campaign release, are a quirky element that Lee seems to be exploring in unexpected ways like a chicken hat.
