NYFW: Tory Burch breaks down perceptions of beauty for Fall 2023
Revamping her silhouettes and the perception of beauty and feminity, Tory Burch presents a stellar vision for the Fall/Winter 2023 collection at New York Fashion Week.
A pioneer for nearly 70 years in American sportswear, Claire McCardell may not be a household name, but she's been on Tory Burch's radar for a few seasons now.
And it continues for the Tory Burch Fall/Winter 2023 show. In a way, the search for the roots of American sportswear comes as a reflection of the Covid-19 pandemic on the designer. She left that phase with the desire for lightness and experimentation and this has been directly reflected in her creations.
In the current show, it was reinforced by styling that purposefully included a broken heel, a loose bag buckle and even dresses worn backwards. In the clothes themselves, a subtle punk touch came in the skirt closed with a pin, in the office look with a light denim skirt with a thread-cut hem, in the open neckline of a chemise, unstructured overlaps and unclassic color combinations.
Discovering that life doesn't have to be taken so seriously, Tory moves forward by revamping her @toryburch look which liberates women and how they style themselves.
In the official show notes, she says, "This collection is about the confidence that comes from being unapologetically yourself. Women aren't interested in rules, and every piece is designed to be
endlessly mixed, layered, and individualized."
