All up in '80s New York with Michael Kors Fall/Winter 2022
Michael Kors' latest collection pays tribute to the glamor of '80s New York City.
If there's one thing Michael Kors knows, it's New York City. And as a close second, fashion. Every season, he utilizes his special acuity to translate one into the other within a collection of striking pieces that breathe life into a city, no matter its current state of affairs.
This season, as a leather trench coat-clad Miguel performed on a smoky stage, models hit the runway in one of Kors' edgiest collections yet. Backed by a medley of Prince hits as well as Miguel's own "Sure Thing," each look vibrated with the intensity and ferocity that was '80s New York. As always, there were a lot of furs, several knits, and Kors' signature color palette of black, white, tan, and red, but there were also neon scarlets and yellows, bracing magentas, and even a sultry gunmetal grey look or two. It wasn't a complete rewrite of the brand's sartorial code, but just enough to contextualize the inspiration behind the clothing.
