Attention athleisure fans: The adidas x Gucci collaboration is here, just in time for a mid-year style refresh. First spotted on the Exquisite Gucci Fall 2022 runway, the partnership is yet another exciting crossover between the Italian fashion house and another industry heavyweight (let’s face it: when it comes to collabs, no one does it better than Gucci). And this round, it’s time to get sporty.

A merge of Gucci’s retro-maximalism aesthetic and adidas’s street-cool flair, the collection serves as an extension of the Fall ’22 line, where sartorial streetwear is complemented with a series of sport-inspired looks. Creative director Alessandro Michele spotlighted the common House codes—the trio of lines—by incorporating the red and green Web of Gucci as well as the white Three Stripes into the ensemble. Making appearances throughout are the iconic adidas Trefoil and GG monogram motifs that further amplify the heritage of both Houses.

Some of the key pieces include the tracksuits that are reimagined in multiple ways, whether it’s in the form of shorts and jogger pants for women, or a bowling shirt and flared trousers for men. The ready-to-wear looks feature both brands’ signature stripes on each side, giving it that striking juxtaposition. Elsewhere, T-shirts and hoodies are emblazoned with the adidas Trefoil logo that’s underlined with the “Gucci” lettering.

When it comes to accessories, the fan-favourite bags are also given an update, There’s the Gucci Horsebit 1955 crossbody and tote that are decked out in the Trefoil motif, as well as camera bags that are embellished with “Gucci” spelt backwards. Footwear, as expected, is one of the highlights of the collection. A favourite of Michele’s, the adidas Gazelle sneakers were given the Gucci treatment with the mash-up of logos and the GG canvas print. The Italian brand’s signature Horsebit loafers, available in both leather and suede, are also accented with the adidas Three Stripes. A selection of golf bags, headbands, baseball caps and umbrellas complete the line-up.

Lensed by photographer Carlijn Jacobs, the campaign champions the retro-sporty vibe of the collaboration. The imagery, reminiscent of an ’80s fitness catalogue, features models in dynamic poses against bright-coloured backdrops, as the striking pieces inject a dose of whimsy into the archival- inspired lookbook.
