Just because the event isn't taking place as scheduled, that doesn't mean we can't celebrate 70 years of iconic fashion.

Every year, the world's biggest celebrities, actors, and filmmakers gather together on the French Riviera for the Cannes Film Festival. The two-week festival is full of glitz and glam, high fashion, and, of course, incredible films. The event has existed officially since 1946, but unfortunately this year the festival as we know it will not take place due to Covid-19.

We'll be missing the outrageous fashion looks on this year's red carpet, but in lieu of the glamorous premieres, we're taking a look back at some of the amazing fashion moments the event has seen in years past.

We've gathered some of the most iconic looks to grace the red carpet at Cannes from the 1950s to the 2010s — from Grace Kelly to Princess Diana to Rihanna. From real royalty to the royals of the silver screen, scroll down for the chicest looks in Cannes red carpet history.
