We may know that each and every Hermès creation is immaculate but now we can witness firsthand how these objects are being crafted with such exceptional skill at Hermès In The Making.
At the discovery showcase, running from October 1 to October 9 and 12pm to 8pm at the Marina Bay Sands Event Plaza in Singapore, an entourage of artisans from around ten of the French maison’s métiers are on hand to explain and demonstrate how they craft these Hermès objects. Equipped with their set of tools, materials and expertise, these artisans are not just a channel for preserving and passing of know-how but a conduit of the Maison’s quest for quality, durability, innovation and sustainability.
Journey with these skilled craftsmen at Hermès In The Making as they offer and present wonderful insights into how an Hermès silk scarf is printed using the “Lyon silk screen printing process to setting the gemstones of a Chaine d'ancre bangle; assembling the watch case of an Hermès H08; painting on porcelain plates and more.
Of course, the art of leather derived from its equestrian roots is what sets Hermès apart and so there is plenty to feast your eyes upon: the special techniques behind the crafting a leather saddle, working the leather in the making of a Kelly bag and even how a beloved Birkin gets a new lease of life through repair and refurbishment work.
