Givenchy surprise us with Onitsuka Tiger collab
There’s a first time for everything. Givenchy is launching a global collaboration with Japanese brand Onitsuka Tiger. This project marks the first time the House of Givenchy has ever partnered with an outside sneaker manufacturer on a global scale.
Conversely, Onitsuka Tiger has never before worked with a luxury fashion house.
Yesterday, the Pitti Uomo menswear runway show debuted the Givenchy x Onitsuka Tiger collaboration shoe “MEXICO 66™ GDX". The shoe is available in either all-white or black with signature Givenchy details in red and white.
Both styles include the sneaker brand’s hallmark dynamic ‘Onitsuka Tigerstripe’ lines on the outer body and ‘Givenchy’ lettering on the inner body with a back tab displaying the dual inscription ‘Givenchy - Onitsuka Tiger’ as seen below.
Specially designed packaging underscores this exclusive collaboration, as do campaign images that combine high-energy Japanese imagery and dynamic, sports-inspired poses to highlight the mingling of cultures.
On June 13th, both versions of the shoes are available for purchase at Givenchy and Onitsuka Tiger flagship stores worldwide, at the first-ever Line pop-up in Japan and online through givenchy.com and other selected social media. The shoes are priced at 450 euros.
