Karl Lagerfeld awarded highest Parisian distinction
He is known to the world of fashion as the "Kaiser" and just yesterday, the city of Paris awarded Karl Lagerfeld the highest honour it could give for his outstanding contribution to the city.
Right after Karl walked out for his Chanel Couture finale, Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo awarded the fashion designer and legend with the Grand Vermeil medal, the highest distinction of the city that can be given to a civilian.
And there's no better award than this to honour Karl as no other designer can do what Karl does to bring so much pride, glamour and recognition to the city of Paris.
On this award, Mayor Anne says, "Your genius and talent has made Paris even more magic, creative and beautiful."
Truly one of the genius of our lifetime, Karl has brought so much to us and this season at Couture Week, it was an on-scale Eiffel Tower built inside the Grand Palais.
And as he stands underneath to receive his award in front of all his guests, Karl says, "I am a foreigner and we foreigners see Paris and France with another eye."
