Obsessed with astrology? Fendi's Summer 2023 capsule line is made for you
It's written in the stars.
Hot on the heels of the Fendi by Marc Jacobs collection, the Italian House has released a Summer 2023 capsule that had us counting stars. Dubbed the Fendi Astrology, the line is a swim and beachwear collection that’s created with all 12 zodiac signs in mind. Drawing inspiration from the brand’s archival Spring/Summer 1990 and 1993 collections as well as the recent work of the artistic director of couture and womenswear Kim Jones, the pieces seamlessly fuse the design codes from the past and present. The focal point of the collection lies in the written signs of the zodiac (in both English and Italian) and the astrological prints that were originally drawn by Karl Lagerfeld, rendered in an eye-catching colour palette of pink, blue and orange, on top of fail-proof white, black and brown.
While the swimwear is cut in a sporty silhouette that’s derived from the 1993 runway, the ready-to-wear looks are crafted with an effortless day-to-night transition in mind. From silk and satin to lightweight knits and rugged denim, the ensembles have one thing in common: they exude that sense of elegant ease. Whether you’re lounging by the pool during the day or having a romantic beachside dinner when the sun sets, there’s something for every occasion. A chic holiday look is never complete without jewellery, and this round, artistic director of jewellery Delfina Delettrez Fendi introduced sleek and dainty pieces that add that chic finishing touch. Cue the little crystal-stud astrological charms that can be worn as a mono-earring or as a pendant and the array of fabric bracelets that perfectly complement the get-ups.
A Fendi capsule is, of course, never complete without bags, and this round, its signature Baguette and Peekaboo are in the spotlight and given a vacation-ready update. The former includes a full-denim design that’s peppered with florals that are made up of colourful beads as well as one that’s made using an illusory embroidery technique that gives off an illusion of straw tufting. Meanwhile the latter features an iteration in canvas that’s emblazoned with Karl Lagerfeld’s zodiac illustrations and tuned up with the brand’s signature Selleria stitching, and another that has a woven straw exterior that’s the epitome of summer. A braided Fendi First and the Fendi Step Out bucket bag that highlights the FF logo canvas are also not to be missed.
