The Victoria's Secret fashion show was one of those must-see annual events since the 90s, where everyone awaited the extravaganza to land.
Every year, millions of people would stop in front of televisions expecting to see the most select group of models parade in lingerie and angel wings. The performance of music artists was the finishing touch and big fanle.
But since the event was canceled in 2019, the brand has never been the same. And all this will be present in a documentary, which promises to tell the unfiltered backstage of the iconic Victoria's Secret Fashion Show.
From the rise to the fall of the brand, the novelty will expose the inner workings of Victoria's Secret , contextualizing the positive and negative aspects of a rapidly changing industry. Directed by Matt Tyrnauer, responsible for other projects such as "Valentino: The Last Emperor", the documentary will also address controversial issues.
What did the models do to get a spot on the show? What is the relationship of the brand's then-executive director, Les Wexner, with the sexual harasser Jeffrey Epstein?. These are some of the questions that must be answered. It will also show how the unattainable standard of beauty espoused by the show led Victoria's Secrets to succumb.
The project brings the events that took place from 2000 to 2010, period in which the brand dominated the lingerie market. In addition, it will tell the backstage of the emblematic 1995 parade, one of the most exclusive and watched around the world.
At the time, names such as Naomi Campbell, Heidi Klum, Gisele Bündchen, Alessandra Ambrosio, Adriana Lima and Tyra Banks walked the catwalk.
The objective of the documentary is to be totally unfiltered or censored, also addressing other controversies involving the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, such as lack of inclusion, allegations of bullying, toxic work environment and the history of misogyny.
Titled "Victoria's Secret: Angels and Demons", the project has three episodes and arrives on the streaming platform Hulu on July 14 this year.
