Yuna's Chanel Spring Summer 2023 Show diary
During Chanel Spring Summer 2023 Show in Paris, L'Officiel Malaysia caught up with Yuna as she talked the collection and her upcoming tour.
Yuna, our homegrown artist and the long-time friend of Chanel was back in Paris for the house’s Spring/Summer 2023 show.
Staged at the Grand Palais Éphémère, Chanel Spring Summer 2023 collection showcases Virginie Viard's cinematic vision inspired by Alain Resnais' Last Year in Marienbad. Staying authentic to the film's black and white imagery, a monochromatic palette anchors the collection, whilst there's no lack of sequins, bows, pastel tweeds, lace, and light chiffon.
For the show, Yuna put together an edgy look with grand-pix inspired top and pants from Chanel Cruise 2023 collection. And to put a cherry on top, she completed the look with a sequinned Flap Bag and jacket.

What do you think about the collection?
I think it’s really beautiful and everything feels like walking out from a French film. I think Virginie Viard did an amazing job keeping everything so stylish, feminine while retaining the silhouettes of Chanel. I think Viard had so much fun with sparkles this season. I love sparkles and I can wear anything with sparkles from the collection.
If you were only allowed one favourite piece from the collection, it would be…
There’s this black oversized, sequinned puffy, dress with sleeves that’s I really like.
How ready are you for your upcoming tour in November?
I’m kind of ready, I’m getting there. I was at the New York Fashion Week and now the Paris Fashion Week. When I’m back in the LA, I will be focusing on prepping for the tour and the release of my album, the final installment of my EP. This year, I have released four EPs and this upcoming EP will be my fifth EP, which is the final installment. Hopefully, everything will go well. Normally, after I put out with an album, things will happen naturally. Everything starts to pick up again and I will be busier than ever.
Do you have a formula for writing songs and does it reflect your personality?
I don’t know. I let things happen naturally. It helps when I get to work with somebody who understand my personality. I know my personality. Sometimes, I need to work with someone that pulls out the personality and story for me. It’s a form of self-expression that is very important for me, that’s why I make music. From there, whatever I make connect to my audience.
As a Malaysian based in LA, where do you call home?
Of course, Malaysia. LA is definitely my second home, I made it my second home. I think it’s important to do that; not a lot of people get the opportunity to have a second home. You have to just own it. I don’t forget about Malaysia, I still fly back to Malaysia quite frequent. I will always call LA my second home. Everyone is invited to LA; give me a call when you are in LA. I always say that whenever I meet friends or Malaysians who want to come to LA. Just DM me. If I’m free, I will take you to the Asian foods.
Last but not least, which is your favourite Chanel item?
It’d be my red sweater with the Chanel logo at the back. I wear it all the times. Every time I’m on tour or travelling, I will bring that sweater with me.
