This April '17 edition is dedicated to the late Ren Hang, an iconic and fearless artist. The passing of the Chinese lensman devastated the entire fashion world, especially us at L'Officiel Malaysia, who were privileged to have worked with him merely months ago.
Our managing editor Monica Mong who had the opportunity to be in his presence as they collaborated for the title's March (see here) and April issues penned a heartfelt open letter to the provocateur, and his admirers.
On his passing, she says, "I had met the most amazing person whose impact on my life will be eternal. The experience was a highlight of my career as you provoked the way I look at styling and photography."

She adds, "Your followers asked me to share our experience working together; how were you like as a person?"
"Extreme but a true sweetheart, weird but reasonable, and you liked to make fun of my oversized body. You were just a kid who liked to play in your own personal world and also your photography world..."
With that, we look back at the photographer's awe-inspiring works and immortalised the legacy he left behind in a special tribute Remembering Ren Hang (1987-2017).
In the spirit of celebrating icons, we also bring you the biggest fashion moments of all time in That’s So Major, the new hero pieces in the jewellery-making industry in New Stars, enduring makeup looks inspired by celebrities in Star Power and the iconic modern parks in Behind The Scenes.
Also, check out our Spring/Summer 2017 Couture report in Couture Magic and an exclusive interview with Massimo Giorgetti of Emilio Pucci in Hit Refresh.
"It's a massive loss for the fashion industry. He was the embodiment of a person who dared to go against the tide, to be different, to be himself. Ren Hang will be remembered for his amazing and daring talent," says publisher and CEO of Heart Media, Olivier Burlot.
