A new dimension to Rado’s iconic Anatom, Captain Cook, and Diastar families
In a captivating marriage of horological excellence and fantasy, a style-steered partnership between Rado and Sarawak-born cosplayer Hakken redefines the boundaries of traditional watchmaking. In delving into Rado’s innovative designs — the Anatom, Captain Cook High Tech Ceramic Skeleton, and Diastar Original Skeleton — there are indeed ways in which these timepieces resonate deeply with the transformative art of cosplay.
Rado Anatom: a legacy reimagined
Rado’s Anatom seamlessly blends a typical 80s-era elegance with architectural precision, featuring a sleek, black matte high-tech ceramic bezel and a meticulously sand-blasted black PVD stainless steel middle. Its cylindrical sapphire crystal, refined with bevelled, metallised black edges and an anti-reflective coating, enhances visibility and adds a touch of sophistication. The crown, crafted from the same high-tech ceramic, harmonises with the transparent sapphire crystal caseback, offering a glimpse into the watch's meticulous mechanics. The dial boasts polished, horizontal satin-brushed textures, illuminated by rhodium-coloured indices filled with white Super-LumiNova, ensuring it stands out even in subdued lighting. Each model presents a unique colour gradient—green, blue, or cognac shifting into deep black — enhancing its refined aesthetic. Finished with a supple black rubber strap and a brushed stainless steel three-fold clasp with a ceramic cover and satin-brushed pushers, the Anatom offers a 72-hour power reserve and 50-meter water resistance, making it a reliable and stylish companion for everyday wear.
Rado Captain Cook High Tech Ceramic Skeleton: charting new territories
Epitomising Rado’s fusion of adventure spirit and cutting-edge technology, the Captain Cook High Tech Ceramic Skeleton marries functionality with a sporty sense of style. This striking 43mm timepiece features an elegant nickel-shaded, horizontally-brushed dial with a luxurious rose-gold centre, encased in matte olive-green ceramic noted for its durability and style. The rose-gold stainless steel bezel, with olive-green ceramic accents marked with crisply lacquered white numbers and glowing markers, ensures legibility. A brushed titanium case-back with a see-through crystal window reveals the intricate internal workings—a testament to the blend of art and engineering. Water-resistant up to 300 meters, this robust watch is equipped for adventures both in and out of the water. The design is completed with a matte olive-green ceramic strap, a sturdy titanium three-fold clasp, and a matching rubber strap with rose-gold pushers.
Rado Diastar Original Skeleton: a retro-futuristic blend
The Diastar Original Skeleton captures the essence of 1970s design, but infused with modern advancements. It features a polished Ceramos bezel and stainless-steel middle, encased under a square faceted sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating, ensuring clear visibility in all lighting conditions. The striking black annular dial, highlighted by Super-LumiNova-filled indices, offers readability in low light and showcases the sophisticated R808 calibre through its skeletonised design. The shapely 38mm x 45mm case is paired with a polished and brushed stainless steel bracelet, featuring a three-fold clasp and an EasyClip system for comfort and wearability. Water-resistant up to 100m, the Diastar Original Skeleton not only pays homage to the quintessential design elements of the 1970s but is also tailored to meet the demands of contemporary life.
