Cartier Women’s Initiative calls for applications for the 2023 edition
It’s time to step it up.
Calling all impact-making entrepreneurs: The 2023 Cartier Women’s Initiative (CWI) is now open for applications. Interestingly, for the new edition, the international entrepreneurship program has been expanded with the creation of new Regional and Thematic Awards.
For the Regional Awards, three fellows will be selected from each of the nine regions: Latin America and the Caribbean, North America, Europe, Francophone Sub-Saharan Africa, Anglophone and Lusophone Africa, Middle East and North Africa, East Asia, South Asia and Central Asia, and Oceania.
Meanwhile, under the Thematic Awards umbrella, a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Award has been created and is open to all genders to encourage entrepreneurial solutions to close gaps of access, outcome and opportunities for the under-represented communities.
The pilot award is established in addition to the Science & Technology Pioneer Award that was launched last year. For each of these two Thematic Awards, three fellows will be chosen.
All selected awardees will be announced in April 2023 and the winners during the awards ceremony the following month. The 33 awardees — 27 Regional Awardees and 6 Thematic Awardees — will vie for grants worth USD100,000 (first place), USD60,000 (second place) and USD30,000 (third place).
They will be accorded with tailored mentoring and coaching, media visibility, networking opportunities and in-person INSEAD Social Entrepreneurship Program and/or INSEAD Executive Education Program (pending admission based on INSEAD’s eligibility criteria and selection process).
The program’s expansion with the formation of Regional and Thematic Awards comes on the heels of the CWI’s 15th anniversary celebration at the World Expo in Dubai a few months ago in March—in conjunction with International Women’s Day—in the company of like-minded global thinkers and doers.
Launched in 2006, CWI seeks to empower women entrepreneurs around the world by providing them with financial, social and human capital support to grow their businesses and build their leadership skills. This program is open to those who aim to have a sustainable social and/or environmental impact.
To date, the program has supported 262 women change-makers with women-run and women-owned businesses hailing from 62 countries and has awarded a total of US$6,440,000 in grants to support their businesses, all driven by a common conviction: Solving the most pressing global challenges.
The call for applications for the 2023 edition of the Cartier Women’s Initiative will close on 30th June 2022 at 2pm (CEST). For more information, visit www.cartierwomensinitiative.com.
