OMEGA pays tribute to the 37th edition of America’s Cup
The Swiss watchmaker's commemorative Seamaster Diver 300M is a keeper.
The sporting world is a big driver for Swiss watchmaker OMEGA in 2024. As the Paris 2024 Olympics winds down, the action is not slowing down for OMEGA as it celebrates its Official Timekeeper role at the 37th America’s Cup in Barcelona. Held from August 22 to October 27, the sailing competition is the oldest international one still operating in any sport. To commemorate this prestigious yacht race, OMEGA has produced a collectible, Seamaster Diver 300M America’s Cup, certified as a Master Chronometer and replete with America’s Cup tributes.
The sought-after Seamaster Diver 300M line, first released in 1993, is recognisable for its wave-pattern dial, raised indexes, skeleton hands and helium escape valve — the key features of the legendary depth-defying timepiece. For this new rendition, the timekeeper’s tribute of the sailing watch is crafted in stainless steel, featuring a blue ceramic unidirectional bezel with a regatta scale, comprising two 5-minute pre-start sections and a start section with a regatta-inspired flag.
To evoke a nautical vibe, the watch’s white ceramic dial is laser-engraved to create a wave-like positive relief on its matte- finish surface. In addition, the central seconds hand has an America’s Cup trophy counterweight in the same blue as the Barcelona logo. Reflecting the coveted prize from front to back, the complete logo with “Auld Mug” and B for Barcelona appears on the sapphire crystal case back.
Powering this special timepiece with a 42 mm case size diameter is OMEGA’s Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 8806. In line with America’s Cup’s uber-competitive repute, the Seamaster Diver 300M America’s Cup has been tested at the highest level. As a certified Master Chronometer, both the watch and the movement have met the strictest standards for precision, performance and magnetic resistance set by the independent Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology (METAS). Fittingly, the watch is presented in a commemorative blue box with red stitching. It is paired with two strap options: a stainless steel bracelet and a blue rubber strap, which one can easily swap, courtesy of the brand’s patented Quick-Change system.
