Perfectly on cue, Chaumet turns on the spotlight to reveal the spectacular Chaumet en Scène High Jewellery collection. Led by conductor Benoît Verhulle, the 13th head of the Chaumet workshop since its establishment, the troupe of artisans at 12 Vendôme orchestrates a stunning ensemble of 38 creations. Featuring awe-inspiring hues, the majestic stones are meticulously selected for their mesmerising beauty and the emotion they elicit.

The collection, conceived as a multifaceted narrative, draws inspiration from Chaumet’s rich history which has been intertwined with the world of the performing arts ever since it was founded. For instance, the Maison’s fabled Paris address at 12 Place Vendôme, once Hôtel Baudard de Sainte-James, was where the composer Chopin is said to have written the masterpiece, Mazurka Op. 68, No 4, in 1849. Only one out of many other tales that connect the Maison with music and dance — from Chopin’s final, unfinished composition in the Maison’s Salon Chopin to the illustrious clientele of dancers like La Belle Otero and Anna Pavlova — Chaumet has always celebrated the arts.

Unfolding in three captivating chapters: Setting The Tempo, Leading The Dance and As If By Magic, the Maison’s latest High Jewellery collection flawlessly translates its esteemed art of movement into a tour de force of exceptional stones, executed with unparalleled grace and sophistication.

The first act, Selecting The Tempo, celebrates music with three show-stopping parures in an interplay of colour and light. Opening with Harmony, the captivating masterclass of sapphires and diamonds hits all the high notes, evoking the depth of the Maison’s emblematic blue. Next, Melody fuses white gold with diamonds in an exquisite balancing act of tension and lightness before the bejewelled symphony concludes with Score, a harmonious trio of emeralds, sapphires and diamonds that illuminate the wearer with the vision and beauty of music.

For the second act, Leading The Dance, the stones transform into the artists in a series of choreography. The Tango parure, a fiery dance of rubellites and tourmalines in alternating pear and cushion cuts with a pear-shaped indicolite of over 46 carats, captures the passion and energy of the Argentine tango. Expressing movement and volume through sculpted gold and virtuoso settings, the graceful Ballet parure of sapphires and diamonds echoes the fluid elegance of classical dancers. Lively and sparkling, the Swing parure showcases the Maison’s mastery of colour and design, combining classical and contemporary references with jazz incursions.

The third and final act, As If By Magic, amps up the spectacle with more spellbinding pieces. The High Voltige parure, which includes Chaumet’s tiara emblem, dazzles with an aerial display of diamonds that defies gravity with its intricate design. Illusion, the second parure, enchants with its assembly of Mozambique rubies and diamonds that create an optical illusion as the light-reflecting facets of a Venetian mirror. Last, the Trompe-l’œil parure cleverly borrows from the symbolic Chaumet signature, a variation on a grain setting that aggregates several diamonds in a pear shape to give the illusion of a single stone. This masterful trompe-l’œil of natural pearls and diamonds is woven with extremely refined interlacing that testifies to the Maison’s peerless savoir-faire.

In taking its final bow, the Chaumet en Scène High Jewellery collection is enveloped by thunderous applause and calls for an encore, leaving a lasting impression of the Maison’s artistry, innovation and craftsmanship in its beautiful tribute to the arts.
