Richard Mille gears up to launch RM 07-04 Automatic Sport
The avant-garde luxury watch brand pairs six elite partners with its first women sports watch for the campaign.
Richard Mille has long collaborated with an impressive legion of professionals at the pinnacle of their game from diverse fields — think Rafal Nadal, Alain Prost, Yohan Blake, Michelle Yeoh and the list continues. This extended family of the brand sits at the heart of its developments and shares its DNA of constantly striving to achieve the impossible. For the recent launch of RM 07-04 Automatic Sport, Richard Mille’s first women’s sports watch, six brand partners comprising Aurora Straus, Margot Laffite, Nelly Korda, Nafi Thiam, Yuliya Levchenko and Ester Ledecká — two motorsport icons, the world number two golfer, two track and field stars, and a Winter Olympics triple gold medallist — were roped in for the occasion to celebrate the watchmaking milestone.
Taking a brief moment from the cutthroat competition of the sporting arena to appear in front of the camera for the visual campaign, these inspiring and influential athletes were each captured wearing one of the six RM 07-04 Automatic Sport variations. In lending their trailblazing power and sharing their experiences, the mission of developing and defining the excellent attributes of the new Richard Mille creation is accomplished.
Three years in development, the RM 07-04 Automatic Sport is a seamless fusion of pure performance and technical sophistication that adapt perfectly to the challenges and constraints of a range of sporting disciplines. Its new compact skeletonised in-house automatic movement with high shock resistance sits alongside a striking aesthetic anchored by an ultra-durable Quartz TPT® or Carbon TPT® case in colour combinations that exude energy, strength and emotion.
“We did not take a minimalist approach in this design, we chose an airy movement that revealed its complexity at first glance. Offering a women’s skeleton sports watch is a gamble that few have dared to take. This collection is as much about aesthetics as it is about technicity,” explains Cécile Guenat, Creative and Development Director at Richard Mille.
The CRMA8 calibre, fitted with an hour, a minute and a function selector, is ensured by the rigid assembly of the baseplate and bridges made of grade 5 titanium, enhanced with a black PVD treatment. Rigorous testing was done to ascertain the movement’s resistance up to 5,000 g’s of acceleration — an absolute feat for the most compact calibre to be developed by Richard Mille.
Featuring a host of striking hand-finishing touches to complete its elegant aesthetic, the calibre’s technical specs include a function selector complication to avert stressing the winding stem, along with a Quartz TPT® pusher at 4 o’clock to activate the selection of the neutral (N), winding (W) or time setting (H) positions. In addition, the hand at 5 o’clock indicates the chosen function on a flange in grade 5 titanium, a component that brings vital balance to and accentuates the symbiotic link between movement and decoration.
The RM 07-04 Automatic Sport’s colour palette is, without doubt, one of its most captivating design elements — from black for the Carbon TPT® model to cream white, mauve, salmon pink, green or dark blue for the five Quartz TPT® versions. Super lightweight at a game-changing 36 grams including its Velcro® strap, the watch’s confident and commanding persona positions it as a natural winner ergonomically, visually, technically and in terms of its performance. The ultimate timepiece of choice for daily wear to intense sports, the RM 07-04 Automatic Sport’s uber-versatility is birthed at the confluence of elegant refinement and extreme performance.
