Richard Mille’s Coloured Ceramics collection integrates graphics and colours

The watch collection's colourful new interpretations evoke an uplifting sense of magnetism, energy and independence.

A feminine stalwart of the avant-garde watch brand, the RM 07-01’s latest makeover artfully sidesteps the monochrome, opting instead to leverage on chromatic chutzpah.

Marrying aesthetics and performance—a House requisite—the new RM 07-01 Coloured Ceramics collection is unveiled in three new 50-piece limited-edition models. Crafted in technically advanced ceramic and flaunting multi-material guilloché dials, the collection seamlessly fuses mechanical watchmaking, movement engineering and decorative finish.

To arrive at the timepieces’ striking case, dial and strap combinations, Director of Creation and Development Cécile Guenat says, “I was inspired by the Art Deco architecture you see in Miami, these pastel colours and bold patterns that are so distinctive and convey such an amazing vibe and attitude.”

True to life, the RM 07-01 Pastel Blue is a vision of cool sleekness in TZP blue ceramic with olive-aqua rubber strap, while RM 07-01 Pastel Pink delights in TZP pink ceramic with cerulean-lilac rubber strap. Last but not least, the RM 07-01 Pastel Lavender is a bright spark in TZP lavender ceramic with coral-tangerine rubber strap.

Above and beyond the pigment play, the exceptional performance of the case material, TZP ceramic—light, hypoallergenic, durable and scratch-proof—is what grounds the playful and energetic collection.

The perfect partner in performance to TZP ceramic is the watch’s automatic in-house calibre CRMA2—made of microblasted and electroplasma treated titanium, and capturing its power from a 5N red gold variable-geometry rotor that keeps the watch optimally wound at all times.

Giving the RM 07-01 Coloured Ceramics an extra boost is its segmented central dial plates that have been assembled from inserts of ceramic, geometrically patterned rubber and—a first for Richard Mille—hand-crafted guillochage.

The decorative craft originating in the 16th century is defined by individual repeating lines, cut by a hand-turned lathe, to generate a graphic motif.

In mashing up the old and the new, the RM 07-01 Coloured Ceramics successfully and creatively subverts a traditional technique by juxtaposing and interjecting it with innovative materials and a fresh pop fervour in the form of a ceramic case and bi-colour rubber straps.
