The Citizen L Series by Citizen, a luxurious range for all season
While many know of Citizen timepieces, it is safe to say that not as many know about the ethical philosophy that guides the brand and its products.
Citizen’s authentic respect for the environment and human individuality is centred around its Eco-Drive movement, which comes with an Eco Mark certification—the first in horology. How this translates into practical terms is that light—both natural and artificial—is harnessed to power the watches fitted with this proprietory technology, doing away with the need for battery replacements as a consequence.
At the recent Baselworld, a new iteration of the Citizen L series was unveiled. The 24-diamond square-case design is not only exclusive (with planned production of 1,000 pieces) but distinctive in aesthetic. Its “Brave is Beautiful” tagline expresses the idea of a modern woman with a brilliant future, being driven forward by her strong sense of individuality.
Totalling 0.1 carat and sprinkled on and within the case, the 24 diamonds—10 are set symmetrically on each side of the case, with two on the dial and another two on the glass surface— allude to a woman’s flourishing beauty as well as her private meditations. A fetching three-dimensional quality pervades the new L series timepiece with contrasting lustre on the side and case body, enhancing further its shining gems to create an otherworldly depth and elegant refinement.
More importantly, Citizen’s commitment behind this recently launched diamond-studded L series watches—available in satin-like synthetic leather or leather strap, and stainless steel bracelet—are underscored by these ethical commitments: Eco-Drive technology, disclosure of materials and CO2 emissions with third-party-verification (another first in the watch industry), DRC conflict-free minerals audit, paper- free digital-format user manuals, sustainable packaging and preservation of traditional craftsmanship where applicable.
