7 things to know about Daiyan Trisha's new song "My Home Is In Your Arms"
After three years, Daiyan has returned to serenade us with a new song, which stars Meerqeen as the male lead and Nadhir Nasar as the MV director.
Leave it to Daiyan Trisha (@daiyantrisha) to blow our minds with her creative talents. After three years, she has finally made a new move in music and this time it is a three-way collaboration with two celebrated Malaysian talents Meerqeen and Nadhir Nasar.
Titled "My Home Is In Your Arms" (MHIIYA), the song explores the theme of dystopian romance to unravel the different sides of a relationship, from happiness and love to anger and sorrow. Daiyan wants its listeners to face both the comfort of idealized love and the harsh and brutal realities of a relation ship.
Co-starring Meerqeen as the male lead, while Nadhir Nasar takes the creative role as the music video's director, the production was a creative collaboration unlike any other.
In celebration of the new project, we sat down with Daiyan Trisha to talk about MHIIYA and her plans for the rest of 2024.
Congratulations on your new song release! It's been a while since you launched new music and it's in English. How do you feel right now?
Thank you so much! It feels so good mainly because I’m back in music. Music & songwriting has always been so near to my soul, so it feels like I’m full again.
The song is titled My Home Is In Your Arms, what was your inspiration in writing this song?
From outside it may sound like a feel-good love song, but the song actually came from a sad place. It’s about the rocky phases of a relationship, the bargaining phase to be accurate. It’s the recalling of connection and narrations between two people, but also figuring out whether or not to hold on to it or to let it go.
After watching the MV, our minds are blown! The song is truly not what we'd expect based on the happy vibes we saw in the teasers. What is the message you want to give to your audience?
Yes. The first message can be read as the video started playing, “Sometimes you fall in love with the potential of people, not who they actually are”. I feel like so many of us look for the good in people and the potential of who they can become, but the reality of their real self is right there for us to learn and observe.
At the end of the day, you can only choose the other person over yourself for so many times before it starts eating you up. I want people to know that when the time comes, you have to face reality and choose what’s best for yourself.
You've also joined hands with Meerqeen and Nadhir Nasar to create this music video, where both made appearances and Nadhir even directed the production. How did the collaboration came about?
Meerqeen & Nadhir are both my really good friends and working with them on MHIIYA has been absolutely wonderful. I’ve worked with Nadhir countless times on set, but as surprising as it sounds, I have never been partnered with Meerqeen at all.
So I thought that the chemistry would be something refreshing to see. This is also the first time that all of us are put on a set together, the synergy was amazing and they’re both talented and special in their own sets of skills. I’m so thankful they’re a part of this.
What was the most memorable moments throughout your experience producing this song?
I would say combining all the aspects of what made the entirety of the song. The audio, visual, storyline, castings, they all came together cohesively as how I visualised them to be. My producer Kuizz Shah finished the song with a pictured idea of how the music video is going to be, my director Nadhir arranged the set with his team at Paradice as per the storyline that I’ve discussed with him. It was so fun and fresh considering all of us are young artists filled with enthusiasm and passion.
From when we last spoke during our cover shoot with you, we talked about you planting seeds for year 2024 and it seems that they are slowly blooming! How does that make you feel?
Amazing, as I can finally slowly see it happening and continue to plant more slowly. From our last cover shoot, they’re all just ideas in my head. Now it’s manifesting and it’s always the best part of pushing ourselves forward to see them happening in real time.
And circling back to our previous question in April, what's the three things you want to tick off your bucket list? You mentioned that you will reveal it on the second quarter? Is it time yet?
The first one is definitely the release of my first single back into music, which is MHIIYA! So that’s ticked. The other two will be revealed very soon, so I guess we’ll have to have another interview where I can tick that off too ;)<span;>
