4 reasons why the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra is worth every dime
From the iconic S Pen to the versatile functionality and long lasting battery life, this tablet is one that takes you all the way.
You've probably read our first impression of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra tablet and we are back to present to you a full review on this sleek and chic gadget.
After unboxing and setting up the tablet, we took the tablet on an overseas trip to test out its various capabilities and see how well it performs for a creative content creator who is constantly on the move and in need of a compact tech companion.
From its versatile desktop mode switch to the advanced camera lens and the iconic S Pen, let us bring you through the many reasons why the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra tablet is worth the investment for all creative jet sets.
THE POWER OF S PEN
You can't talk about Samsung without mentioning the S Pen, which is now a quintessential item for any Samsung mobile device you are using - be it a smartphone or tablet.
And for any content creator or creative talents, the S Pen is a godsent companion for the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra tablet with its near-zero latency that makes the pen feel like a real-life writing instrument.
Whether you are drawing on the tablet or editing videos and images, the S Pen gives you the precision you need to perform micro adjustments and take notes on the fly with almost no lag. And there is also a function where you can do live recording while taking notes, which is perfect to be used during meetings when you can record the proceedings while taking your own notes. The feature also allows simultaneous playback of the recording and note-taking for ease of digesting post-event.
Drawing and note taking aside, one of our favourite features of the S Pen is the Air Actions feature, where you can customise motions to make it a remote control for your tablet.
There is also the Screen-Off Memo feature that captured our hearts. This is where you can pop out your S Pen and immediately start scribbling on your screen to take notes, even when your tablet is in locked mode. The scribbles and notes you have taken will then be automatically captured into Samsung Notes and can be easily stored and shared. No more panic fishing your bag for a pen and paper when you're on a train rushing to the next destination.
As a bonus, you can also convert your own handwriting (in a variety of languages including English, Chinese, Japanese, Korean and more) into computer text, which can be used in emails, PDFs and Microsoft Word documents.
The Versatility Of Samsung DeX
One problem we often had with tablets previously is the lack of versatility for work but that has completely changed with the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra with the Samsung DeX mode that allows the tablet to morph into a desktop PC user interface.
Allowing almost full PC-like productivity, the Samsung DeX mode lets us work as if we are bringing a full-fledged laptop on the go (minus the extra weight and trouble). Partnered with the Samsung Book Cover Keyboard (with a trackpad) that comes in a set with the tablet, we can work on our creative assignments and projects with ease and speed.
The best thing is you can open multiple windows at the same time on the tablet, just like a normal laptop and desktop PC. This is a much-elevated version of the usual mobile split screen, which provides us more flexibility and productivity.
With the Samsung DeX mode, you can also sync up all your devices including your smartphone (ours is the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra) or an extra display monitor for a seamless work experience.
That means you can share your mobile screen to your Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra tablet and work on files in desktop mode and transfer between devices with a touch of a button using Quickshare.
Excellent Front Camera Action
it is no secret that Samsung develops some of the most advanced camera lenses and features for mobile devices and the same applies to the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra tablet.
On a tablet standard, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra rear camera rises to its hype (though we still prefer our Samsung smartphone for it) with 13.0MP on the main lens and a 6.0MP ultra wide lens.
The highlight here is the front camera, which we use more often on the tablet, boasting a crystal clear capture on 12MP with ultra-wide and wide angle functions. This makes the perfect assistant for a high-quality video conference and also to record 4K quality videos, which is perfect for video content creators.
POWERED UP IN EVERY ASPECT
And another crucial point to take into consideration when using a tablet device is the battery life, which Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra tablet boasts to be able to last up to 8 hours of internet usage (on mobile data and WiFi individually) or up to 14 hours of video playback.
From our own experience, on a full charge from morning and using the tablet throughout the day, we are still left with over 20% battery life by the end of a working day. Our usage is mainly on WiFi for various tasks including video calls, video editing, music listening regular document tasks and more.
And with the Android system, we absolutely love the integration of Google software and apps with the Samsung device, from Google Drive for file sharing to Google Docs Editor for all document related edits and Google Duo and Google Meet for video conference use.
To cap off our experience, we want to highlight the superb built-in editing software of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra tablet. While we love our Snapseed, CapCut and Adobe Lightroom apps, we realised that Samsung's own editing apps are quite formiable.
Our personal favourite is the photo-editing app that allows us to edit any photo professionally including colour adjustment, cropping and resizing and even drawing. There are also special smart functions like the Object Eraser that can automatically detect and erase shadows and light/mirror reflections on a photo to create crisp and professional takes.
Truly the cherry on top of the cake to what is already a superb tech companion for us.
You can now purchase the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra at Samsung official stores, e-commerce site and select retailers like Sen Heng and Harvery Norman.
