This is more than just your regular tablet.

Forget your laptops and desktop PCs, this is the era for the rise of tablet PCs as they evolved beyond the common misconception of being a larger, bulkier version of your smartphone.

Bringing the best of both PC and mobile capabilities, tablet PCs are versatile gadgets made for those who are constantly on-the-go and the new Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra stand as one of the most coveted tech of the moment.

Before we give you a full rundown on the beauty of owning this tablet, here is our first impression on the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra as a little appetiser.

On first glance when we unpack the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra box, we receive the tablet (the 256 GB edition), the Book Cover Keyboard, the S Pen and a Type-C fast charging cable.

Packed inside the sleek box, the packaging continues the minimalist and sustainable efforts of Samsung to reduce impact to the environment. The great thing we see here with the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra tablet is the complimentary Book Cover Keyboard and S Pen, unlike some other tech brands.

We find this makes the user experience more seamless, especially since tablets are slowly replacing laptops as a core device for our daily work and a proper keyboard is necessary.

Easily snapped onto the S8 Ultra tablet using a magnetic mechanism, the detachable keyboard also doubles as a protection over for the tablet.

The cover also has a mini pocket space where it stores and protects the S Pen while it is charging on the back of the tablet. Overall, the design is made for convenience and can be easily utilised intuitively - a plus point especially for first-time tablet users.

Upon booting up the tablet for the first time, the process of satting it up is perfectly seamless where you can connect your smartphone via WiFi or Type-C cable to transfer any preferred settings and smartphone apps or even mirror your entire smartphone into the tablet.

All this can be done with the Samsung Smart Switch Mobile app, which is a default app in your device.

Once we finished setting up, it's time to fiddle around with the key features and one of our favourite is the DeX mode, which is a new system within the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra that allows us to transform our tablet interface into a pseudo-desktop interface.

Partnered with the Book Cover Keyboard (which, by the way, also has a mouse trackpad), the tablet immediately transforms into a sleek laptop.

A tip for all business users, we recommend to download the full suite of Google apps including Google Docs, Sheets and Slides to replace your need for any Microsoft software. Using these apps along with Google Drive, you can be in-sync with your smartphone easily.

If you are using a Samsung smartphone (which you should), there is also Samsung Nearby Share function, where you can drag and drop files to be shared via Bluetooth.

Now onto the S Pen. If you have used previous Samsung Note smartphones or the Samsung S21 and S22 series, then you are no stranger to the beauty of the S Pen.

Sensitive and delicate to touch, the S Pen is made to mirror a real-life pen or pencil and perfect for any creative use. From precise video editing to drawing and sketching art, there is no limit to what you can do artistically with the S Pen. It even has a pencil-on-paper sounds as you write on the screen with the S Pen, which a subtle touch appreciated by analogue lovers like ourselves.

Without getting in too deep, the S Pen has many great features and our favourite on first impression is  the Screen-off Memo mode, where you can just pop out the S Pen and start scribbling on screen, even with the tablet on locked mode.

And everything scribbled will be converted and saved as a Samsung Note for your future usage.

And that wraps up our first impressions after satting up and playing with our Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra for the first time. Stay tuned as we will give you a full blown review on our experience with the tablet, once we test it out properly over the next few weeks. So, watch this space!
