Through the lens of Samsung Galaxy S22+
Taking the much-talked-about smartphone to the streets of Muar.
Much has been said about the Samsung Galaxy S22 range — one of the hottest tech drops so far this year. We, ourselves, have chimed in with our own take on it. The biggest takeaway from it all? The next-level camera experiences. From the camera’s high resolution to the advanced AI technology that complements it, the art of photography is elevated with each model in the series.
That being said, seeing is indeed believing so we come bearing receipts. We headed to the historical town of Muar for Raya, walked the arterial streets and put our Samsung Galaxy S22+ to the test.
WIDE CAMERA & ULTRA-WIDE CAMERA
Becoming of its alias Empress Town, Muar is endowed with an abundance of heritage buildings and most have been carefully preserved. The S22+ does a splendid job at capturing parts of them with its 50MP Wide Camera and an admirable one with the 12MP Ultra-Wide Camera—until you zoom in on the pictures and they expectedly falter.
TELEPHOTO
Out of the triple camera, the Telephoto is one we use the least but still, it’s good to know that it’s there should we need it. The 10MP Telephoto Camera with 3x optical zoom allows you to zero in on a subject without worrying about lost details. We turned the lens to some blooming hibiscus and it managed to capture even the microscopic whiskers of the stigma.
FRONT CAMERA
The 10MP Front Camera on the S22+ enables its users to snap razor-sharp selfies and that is, theoretically, a good thing. Combined with Samsung’s latest AI technology, notably the new AI Stereo Depth Map that kicks into gear when you switch to the Portrait mode, the camera photographs even the smallest details which in turn delivers crisp and clear images.
NIGHT MODE
The new Nightography features such as the 23 percent larger sensor than the S21+ let you take excellent photos and videos of distant subjects and in low-light environment.
We played around with the camera modes, taking snapshots of the iconic Masjid Sultan Ismail from across Sungai Muar at dusk, and the result, while only satisfactory especially given the hype, was quite impressive.
