As much as a scent can unlock a long-kept memory, it can also whisk us away to a faraway land and even places we have never been with a single whiff. It pretty much explains why wearing fragrance is the daily dose of self-indulgence for most of us when the world was on lockdown — we needed reminders of the beautiful things in life.
Those were days when escapism was needed most yet the neighbourhood grocery store was the furthest to venture, and wearing fragrance has then truly evolved into a personal act of self-care to feel optimistic and inspired.
AERIN CEDAR VIOLET
Cedar Violet by Aerin is born from the love for the Adirondack Mountains in the autumn. With fresh and crispy notes of violet leaf, Virginia cedarwood and golden gardenia grounded by amber and Australia Sandalwood, it dreams up a goldenhued forest with sun rays breaking through leaves.
AESOP HWYL
At the heart of Aesop’s Hwyl is Hinoki, a Japanese cypress embodying purity and healing. Spicy, aromatic notes awaken the senses before giving way to a green, woody and smoky base of vetiver and oakmoss. It’s the closest you will get to taking a walk in Studio Ghibli’s forests.
TOM FORD OUD WOOD
If your version of a fairytale takes place in a dark woodland, then Tom Ford’s Oud Wood will set the mood. Oud, sandalwood, rosewood, spices and amber are layered for a scent that is both sensual and cosy.
