Coach shows us what happens when downtown kids go uptown
Despite beind one of the oldest fashion houses in America, Coach shows us how it stays youthful and fun, keeping up with the Gen Zs.
What does happen when downtown kids go uptown? That's the question that Stuart Vevers answered with Coach's Fall/Winter 2023 collection.
Returning to the Park Avenue Armory for another season, Coach's runway show could only be described as effortlessly cool as the show takes place in a luxurious hallways of a New York uptown establishment.
Even as the models walked to the soothing sounds of "Bitter Sweet Symphony" by The Verve, there was a quiet excitement brought forward in the collection.
Maybe it was the subtle nods to childhood emblems such as Mickey Mouse and Superman that were adorned on the front of two striped knitted dresses. Or perhaps it was the appreciation for the flawlessly fitted leather pieces that had you questioning only one thing: "When can I buy this?"
At first, the show began with a muted color palette of dark browns, blacks, and greys. Then, other unexpected colorful pieces trickled in—a metallic lime green coat, a sheer royal purple dress, and a bubblegum pink maxi dress, to name a few.
Of course, the collection did not fail to incorporate Vever's appreciation for Americana fashion with the back-to-back uses of denim. Though, unlike last season, it was noticeably less academia-esque and more chic-day out.
As if the show couldn't get any better, sitting front row (and taking a selfie together) were Lil Nas X and Ice Spice.
