Meet Gucci Zumi, the latest It bag of Spring 2019

Season after season, since the arrival of Alessandro Michele at Gucci, we all await with bated breath to see how the creative director will wow us with his work and this Spring/Summer 2019, we witness the birth of a new It bag – the Gucci Zumi bag.
First spotted last September at Théâtre Le Palace in Paris, the Gucci Zumi made its runway debut with actress-musician Zumi Rosow, the muse whom Alessandro named the bag after.
Stripped of all the usual Gucci embellishments, embroideries and decorations, the Gucci Zumi is minimal, practical and a bag that merges the past and present of Gucci.
A new boxy silhouette that now features a new hybrid logo that combines two of Gucci's most significant icons – the Interlocking G and Horsebit hardware –, the Gucci Zumi has a ladylike quality unlike many of her predecessors.
Fitting to the Hollywood Golden Era theme of the collection, this unique mixes silver and gold metal is actually something Alessandro dug out from deep within the Gucci archive.
Breathing life to the old logo with a new canvas, the Gucci Zumi was born.

For the debut look on Zumi Rosow, the first design is the top-handle version that sports distinctive double-lift lock closures at the top and the new logo.
This top-handle look sports two sizes – medium and small – and is made in fine and grainy leather, along with precious skins including python, elaphe, crocodile and ostrich.
Together with it are the Gucci Zumi shoulder bag and Gucci Zumi tote. The first is a miniature version that comes with a detachable shoulder chain with Marina chain details, making it the perfect evening companion for dinner affairs and late night parties.
And for the Zumi tote, the design came from a Gucci vintage bag from the 60s and features a double sliding chain strap to complement the Interlocking G and Horsebit detail. Unlike the other two designs, the tote is only available exclusively in crocodile and lizard skins.
But the star of the season takes it a step further with a little more juice – much like everything we love about Gucci. Instead of regular leather or precious skins, the spotlight goes to the Gucci Zumi in a fun, pop Gucci Strawberry print.
Much like its lady-like contrast with Zumi Rosow's edgy aesthetics, the strawberry print brings a new take and personality to the refined silhouette of Gucci Zumi.
