Check out our top 10 celebrity fashion we've encountered in 2021
We’ve rounded up some of the best celebrity looks this year — from movie premieres to film festivals and award shows.
In the spirit of yearly recaps that happen every December, we’ve decided to round up our favourite looks by celebrities in 2021. And trust us, there was plenty to choose from. To keep things short and sweet, here are our top 10 ensembles that stood out this year. Let’s see if your favourites made the cut.
Kim Kardashian at the Met Gala
Now you must’ve guessed this one. Kim Kardashian’s iconic black Balenciaga gown was the talk of the town for a good couple of weeks since its debut at the 2021 Met Gala earlier in September. Think dementor meets fashion; an ensemble that did its job at turning heads. To everyone’s surprise, the look remained a staple in Kim’s fits throughout the year, and in a variety of colours. Will she be sporting more of this look in 2022? Only time will tell.
Emily Blunt at the Met Gala
And with Emily Blunt, we continue the endless list of stunning Met Gala looks that graced the red carpet this year. Decked out in an ethereal gown and constellation headpiece that screamed Lady Liberty extravaganza, Blunt came and conquered the event with her goddess-like presence. One of our favourite looks of hers to date!
Billie Eilish at the Met Gala
Next up, we have Gen Z’s princess – Billie Eilish, surprising fans everywhere with her departure from the typical baggy streetwear she’s known for. Gracing the red carpet dressed in an elegant beige Oscar De La Renta gown and sporting short blonde hair, the 20-year-old paid tribute to Marilyn Monroe’s showstopping legacy as Hollywood’s it-girl in the past. The first of many glamourised looks from Eilish to come, we hope.
Rihanna and A$AP Rocky at the Met Gala
Did someone say “diamonds are a girl’s best friend?” Adorned with Bvlgari’s finest high-end jewellery, two high-end necklaces platinum with 9 pear-cut diamonds (14.55 ct), 107 round-cut diamonds (35.84 ct) and a diamond bezel (6.54 ct) to be more specific, Rihanna shone on the arm of her boyfriend A$AP Rocky at the Met. Not to be outshined by his girl, Rocky also showed up to the function with a colourful ERL ensemble, reminiscent of a cosy holiday blanket.
Hunter Schafer at the Met Gala
Talk about otherworldly chic. Euphoria’s Hunter Schafer showed up the Met in a futuristic silver Prada co-ord gown, much like fashionable battle gear you’d see on a runway somewhere. To accentuate her fit, the star wore white contacts and decorated her face with an eyecatching Mermaid Wing Brooch in white gold and matching rings to accompany the look. Another favourite of ours this year.
Bella Hadid at the 2021 Cannes Film Festival
Perhaps the most memorable ensemble of the year; Bella Hadid stunned the crowd in a black wool dress with a plunging neckline from Schiaparelli’s Haute Couture Fall/Winter 2021/22 collection, accessorised with a statement gold necklace resembling the bronchi passageway of the human lungs and dazzling ruby drop earrings. And we’re honestly still not over it!
Jessica Chastain and Oscar Isaac at the Venice International Film Festival
Have we gotten over Jessica Chastain and Oscar Isaac’s show-stealing chemistry from HBO’s ‘Scenes From a Marriage’ and real life yet? Not quite. Dazzling the crowd with their fits (a red sparkling strapless gown for Chastain and a classic tuxedo for Isaac) and interaction on the red carpet of the Venice International Film Festival, these two brought the heat in the best possible way.
Zendaya at the Venice International Film Festival
Not everyone can pull off the “wet look,” but Zendaya seemed to be the exception. Wearing a nude Balmain gown with a high cut that fitted her like a glove, the ‘Spider-Man’ star resembled a marble statue from the renaissance era with her poise and demeanour. Also adorned on her neck was Bulgari’s Magnifica Hypnotic Emerald necklace that featured the House’s serpent motif and 93.83-carat cabochon-cut Colombian emerald. The perfect statement piece to complement her simple, yet elegant gown.
Ariana Grande's Vera Wang Wedding Dress
All dressed up in Vera Wang for her intimate wedding was pop-star Ariana Grande. The singer married realtor Dalton Gomez earlier in May this year in a sleek, silk empire waist gown with a tastefully revealing back and slit on the side. She also tied the look together with her famous high-ponytail and a short viel on top. A gown that did not distract from the magic and significance of the moment.
Lady Gaga at the Inauguration of President Joe Biden
Close to a year ago, Lady Gaga was given the honour of singing the national anthem at the Inauguration of President Joe Biden in January. The ‘House of Gucci’ star graced the occasion in a custom navy and red bulletproof Schiaparelli gown, designed by Daniel Roseberry. The ensemble featured a fitted navy jacket and a voluminous puffy red skirt, finished with a gold-plated dove brooch placed across her heart. A well-thought out look that represented the future of America at the time.
